Position Summary:

Position performs a variety of assigned grassroots and PAC advocacy, i.e., Mortgage Action Alliance (MAA), MORPAC and National Advocacy Conference (NAC) initiatives and work activities, including recruitment, membership renewals, programming, planning, and implementing MORPAC promotion and fundraising campaigns (i.e. MAA and MORPAC Action Weeks), events, communications, etc.

Under project supervision, the incumbent implements and oversees the maintenance of MBA’s advocacy software and assists in managing the MORPAC disbursement process. The position interacts with both MAA and MORPAC committee members, MBA leaders, and staff to grow MBA’s Political/Advocacy Programs. Incumbent collaborates with MBA members, staff, and professional networks to assist in the implementation of various key initiatives. The position is an individual contributor role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Works with MBA leaders, staff, and volunteer leadership to add value and focus on measurable results for MORPAC, MAA, NAC, and MBA, including identifying donor prospects (including member companies’ federal PACs), coordinating grassroots member retention and PAC eligibles, MBA Board and BOGs, committees, councils, and industry segments.
  2. Oversees MORPAC goal tracking and recognition, the advocacy databases (VoterVoice and Aristotle 360), and website transparency on both MBA and MORPAC websites.
  3. Supports the AVP to maintain professional relationships with MAA and MORPAC committee members and MBA leaders to identify prospective donors and to develop and execute strategic peer-to-peer fundraising events and initiatives.
  4. Plans and coordinates committee-related meetings and events, such as fundraisers, “roadshows,” and PAC Speaker Series, including supporting LPA colleagues to help manage the utilization of the MBA Capitol Hill townhouse property for political and member engagement events (as directed by the AVP or SVP and/or MBA lobbyists, on occasion).
  5. Manages MORPAC communications and company campaigns and implements new ideas to benefit MBA advocacy efforts. Tracks member contributions. Leads lagging donor and e-contributor recapture tactics. Manages MORPAC contributions, donor recapture and recordkeeping (pledge forms, thank you notes, etc.), correspondence, prior authorizations, and budgetary disbursements.
  6. Works cross-departmentally with Marketing and Membership to brand, promote, and engage MBA departments with MBA advocacy membership projects and programs, and MORPAC events such as MAA and MORPAC Action Week. Partners with MBA leadership to ensure communications and materials align with MBA’s larger advocacy goals and initiatives.
  7. Assists the AVP in executing the fundraising plan for MORPAC’s administrative fund and recruiting sponsors for advocacy events and encouraging corporate matched contributions (in terms of dollars raised from a member firm’s company campaign).
  8. Assists the AVP in maintaining and tracking the MORPAC Disbursements Budget, based on lobbyists targeted requests and disbursing funds to federal candidates, leadership PACs, and national party campaign committees.
  9. Reviews monthly Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings and keeps abreast of current industry trends and changes to federal election laws.
  10. Participates in calls with other PAC professionals and networks to ask pertinent questions and provide feedback (as well as remain knowledgeable in this field).

Qualifications:

Requires a bachelor’s degree in political science, communications, public policy, or similar field, with a minimum of five years of prior relevant progressive work experience in sales, political fundraising, and managing/building a PAC, or PAC programs.

  • Requires advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite and knowledge of Aristotle, VoterVoice, and other database management software.
