Associate Director Position

The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) is actively seeking an Associate Director for its Technology Policy Project. This role will primarily focus on the technology project’s AI initiative, dedicated to fostering AI literacy and education in the government. The Associate Director will play a crucial role in building and managing relationships with policymakers, academia, industry, and tech stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  1. Foster Relationships:
    • Establish partnerships with thought leaders and congressional groups.
    • Staff task forces, working groups, and other initiatives.
    • Provide advice to congressional staff on various AI issues.
  2. Curriculum Development:
    • Develop AI curriculum and explainers for workshops throughout the year.
  3. Research and Analysis:
    • Research and analyze congressional legislation in technology areas.
    • Cover topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Content Moderation.
  4. Content Creation:
    • Write and edit documents, including reports, policy briefs, memoranda, blog posts, and op-eds.
  5. Document Tracking:
    • Track and analyze government and policy documents to inform policymaking.
  6. Team Collaboration:
    • Work as part of a team to develop policy options.
    • Conduct outreach to tech policy stakeholders.
  7. Briefing and Technical Assistance:
    • Brief and provide technical assistance to external stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with Bipartisan Policy Center Action (BPC Action) on external engagement.
  8. Grant Writing and Updates:
    • Engage in grant writing and provide updates to funders.
  9. Additional Tasks:
    • Engage in planning events and communicate BPC’s work through various media.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of background experience in tech policy, including Congress and AI-related policy.
  • Experience in policy or economic research with both quantitative and qualitative approaches.
  • Strong communication, marketing, and event management skills.
  • Ability to craft and teach educational courses on highly technical topics.
  • Familiarity with congressional and regulatory processes, federal budget, and relevant agencies.
  • At least three years of experience working with Congress or in government affairs.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Effective networking and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute ideas.
  • Ability to multitask, work in a team, and produce documents efficiently.
  • Advanced degree preferred, including JD or Master’s degree in tech policy, public policy, economic policy, or related field.
