Business Communications Advisor

Partner with Science & Operations leaders to develop and execute comprehensive, integrated internal and external communications plans that drive stakeholder action.

  • Serve as an effective counselor, influencer and best-practices advocate to senior leaders. Will develop proactive communications strategies based on a deep understanding of the organization’s needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the global Communications and marketing teams and key leaders across businesses and corporate functions.
  • Ideal candidate is a creative, strategic thinker and storyteller with exceptional writing and editing skills. An energetic, outgoing personality with a great sense of humor, a plus. Previous experience as an executive communications professional who can effectively write what stakeholders know, feel, and do. Can convey complex concepts in plain English for large audiences is critical.
  • Reports to Director, Business Communications.

Background

  • BS/BA degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
  • Experience working in global communications for a complex, matrixed organization across regions is preferred.
  • Extensive experience translating complex ideas and technological concepts into simple, compelling communications.
  • Superb writing skills. Writing test will be part of the interview process.
  • Cultivated, productive and trusted relationships with senior leaders/C-suite.
  • Proven experience designing effective communication for organizations undergoing transformation and significant organizational change.
  • Is a counselor, influencer and best-practices advocate to senior leaders.
  • Excellent presentation skills and executive presence.
  • Can manage and use a wide array of communications tools and channels.

Responsibilities

Strategist and content-development professional with both internal and external communications experience will:

  • Partner with senior Science & Operations leaders to develop and execute comprehensive, integrated internal and external communications plans that drive stakeholder action.
  • Serve as an effective counselor, influencer and best-practices advocate to senior leaders, developing proactive communications strategies based on a deep understanding of the organization’s needs.
  • Work in close collaboration with colleagues across the global communications and marketing teams and key leaders across businesses and corporate functions.
  • Creative, strategic thinker and storyteller with exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Energetic, outgoing personality (ready sense of humor a plus), collegial, cultural fit, self-starter, takes the pulse of the leadership style, motivated, service-oriented.
  • Previous experience as an executive communications partner who can effectively communicate what stakeholders need to know, feel, and do.
  • Experience and confidence working with scientific and technical experts to convey complex concepts in plain English for large audiences is critical.
  • Travel: no more than 5%-10%.
