Corporate Communications Lead is a creative, strategic thinker and storyteller with exceptional writing and editing skills. An energetic, outgoing personality with a great sense of humor, a plus. Previous experience as an executive communications professional who can effectively write what stakeholders know, feel, and do.
Reports to Director, Business Communications.
Background
- BS/BA degree in communications or a related field.
- 8+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated competency.
- Broad-based experience writing for a variety of executives and other leaders, with demonstrated ability to craft internal and external communications spanning a wide range of applications, audiences and executive voices.
- Superb writer, editor with excellent verbal communications and interpersonal skills. Writing test will be part of the interview process.
- Exceptionally versatile business writer with a broad background developing strategic content for virtually every corporate application. Strong business acumen.
- Extensive experience translating ideas and concepts into simple, compelling communications for commercial applications.
- Cultivate productive and trusted relationships with senior leaders.
- Proven experience designing effective communication for organizations undergoing transformation and significant organizational change.
- Is a counselor, influencer and best-practices advocate to senior leaders.
- Excellent presentation skills and executive presence.
- Strong project planning, management and collaboration skills.
- Strategic thinker with analytical acumen. Takes ownership.
- Can manage and use a wide array of communication tools and channels.
- Experience working in global communications for a complex, matrixed organization across regions is preferred.
- Highly organized. Project-based budget management and tracking skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience managing and/or using a wide array of internal communication tools.
- Strives for process improvement.
Breakdown of Time Spent per Week (approximate)
- 60%: Develop and execute strategic internal and external communications plans including town hall meetings, intranet articles, executive leader communications, presentation materials, video scripts and more.
- 20%: Lead communications for key company-wide change-management projects and develop creative communications tactics to promote these efforts.
- 10%: Collaborate with key functional leaders to develop and execute effective sales force communications.
- 10%: Other activities as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Partner with senior commercial leaders to develop and execute comprehensive, integrated strategic internal (70%) and external (30%) communications plans that drive stakeholder action.
- Serve as an effective counselor, influencer and best-practices advocate to senior leaders.
- Develop proactive communications strategies based on a deep understanding of the organization’s needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the global Communications and Marketing teams and key leaders across businesses and corporate functions.
- Contribute creative, strategic thinking and storytelling skills to the role.
- Serve as a key member of the company’s Business Communications team.
- Develop strategic content for every corporate application: town hall meetings, intranet articles, executive leader communications, speeches, presentation materials, video scripts web copy, change-management campaigns, intranet content, employee publications, media releases and briefing documents, financial reports, social media copy, and more.
- Travel: under 10%-20%.
