Montgomery Village is a large-scale planned community in the Washington, DC metro area with more than 12,500 homes and 40,000 residents. Established in 1966, the Montgomery Village Foundation, Inc. (MVF) is a 501(c)(4) non-profit corporation/homeowner’s association that provides services to the residents of the community.

MVF owns and maintains more than 335 acres of parkland, 20 tennis courts, 19 recreation and park areas, 13 pickleball courts, 6 pools, 5 basketball courts, 4 community centers, 2 hard court soccer courts, and a natural amphitheater. MVF’s mission is to promote the health, safety and welfare of the residents of the community of Montgomery Village, Maryland.

# BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

Supervises and directs the work of the Communications Department, overseeing the production of print and digital publications for the Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF). Manages the organization’s public relations, communications, advertising, and sponsorship revenue generation, and provides strategic guidance to the Executive Vice President (EVP).

# PRIMARY DUTIES

– **Public Information Officer Duties** — Creates and edits news releases and correspondence for print and electronic platforms; advises the EVP on public relations matters.
– **Communications & Community Relations Planning** — Plans, coordinates, and implements communications, branding, and marketing strategies aligned with MVF Board guidelines.
– **Media Outreach** — Develops and utilizes media outlets to enhance MVF and Montgomery Village’s image.
– **Community Engagement** — Meets with residents, advertisers, and the general public.
– **Committee & Election Support** — Serves as staff liaison to committees and administers the annual MVF Board election process.
– **Board Meeting Support** — Attends monthly meetings, records minutes, and assists with virtual meeting facilitation.

# Publications / Media

– **Publication & Media Oversight** — Oversees all MVF publication and media operations, ensuring consistent, high‑quality communication across platforms.
– **Content Development** — Maintains and develops content for print and electronic communications including Village News, Recreation Guides, newsletters, website, social media, videos, handbooks, flyers, signs, and brochures.
– **Event Coverage** — Attends, reports on, or coordinates coverage for MVF and Village events.
– **Advertising Operations** — Manages accounts receivable, billing, collections, design, printing, circulation, and website advertising.
– **Advertising & Sponsorship Strategy** — Develops campaigns, promotional materials, and media kits to increase revenue; coordinates event sponsorship solicitation.
– **Internal & External Communications** — Supports organizational visibility and community engagement.

# Department

– **Staff Supervision** — Supervises and evaluates communications staff; recruits and trains departmental personnel.
– **Budget Management** — Develops and administers the annual operating and reserve budget; manages assigned contracts including website hosting.
– **Departmental Procedures** — Ensures operations align with MVF Board policies.
– **Strategic Planning** — Creates and manages departmental strategic priorities.
– **Other Duties** — Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.

# MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field; **3+ years of experience** in public relations, community relations, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of social media strategy and content management; strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
