This position is responsible for creating all messaging for government and policy stakeholders around the company’s global public policy priorities/challenges and driving operational and team coordination for the Global Government Affairs & Policy (GAP) function for GE HealthCare. The role works directly with the Global Head & Executive Director (ED) of Government Affairs & Policy to plan, drive and direct all strategic operational activities for the function.

Job Description
Responsibilities:
The Communications and Operations Director, Global Government Affairs & Policy will organize and prioritize critical and key day-to-day issues and requests for the global function to facilitate decision making and moving tasks forward. As needed, the Communications and Operations Director, Global Government Affairs & Policy acts as a point of contact to the ED. The position will provide counsel, oversight, and guidance to projects of high significance and visibility.
Serve as a Deputy to the Global Head and Executive Director (ED) of Government Affairs & Policy, planning and directing all operational work for the function, designing and coordinating communication to governments, and collaborating with the global team across all strategic initiatives.
Through a deep understanding of key public policy issues within the global health sector, work with global government affairs leaders to develop a government affairs and public policy strategy that prioritizes the issues and opportunities which impact GE HealthCare’s commercial activities around the world.
Supports and, as needed, embeds in communications and public affairs work as another thought partner; acts as a chief architect of messaging to government and public policy stakeholders.
Serve as messaging and content creator for the function’s communications to a myriad audiences internally/externally around public policy priorities (e.g. executive leadership, global governments, broader internal GE HealthCare audiences around advocacy/grassroots activation).
Manage the function’s global budget, including prioritization and resource allocation.
Partner with the ED on recruitment, onboarding, and training and development of team members.
Drive priorities of the global function and shape agendas for global team meetings, key leadership meetings, offsites, etc. and identify opportunities to increase team effectiveness.
Identify and execute other strategic projects as needed.
Help team members problem solve complex or sensitive issues.
Prepare global team members for priority meetings, coordinating across team and company to develop materials, including agendas, talking points, and presentations.
Build relationships across the company and at all levels.
Share important and relevant information as it impacts other team members or stakeholders.
Support the ED in driving leadership alignment and building a culture of inclusivity and belonging within and across the Global Government Affairs & Policy team.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 10+ years of related experience.
- 0-15% travel time.
- Required language proficiency English.

- Collaborative and clear communication skills with the ability to build relationships across levels and teams; interest in building a strong teamwork culture and executing projects to completion.

- Excellent organizational skills across multiple work streams/disciplines with the ability to plan and manage budgets, while ensuring deliverables are met.
- Understands when to escalate issues and escalates issues appropriately and respectfully.
- Experienced in crisis communications, developing strategy and messaging.
- Knowledgeable about building and executing diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies and communicating them authentically.
- Strong ability to write and edit complex communications.
- Strong project manager, inclusively convening relevant stakeholders.
- A great editor thought partner and collaborator.
