## Chamber of Progress — Communications Manager or Director

Chamber of Progress, a center-left tech industry association devoted to technology’s progressive future, is seeking a Communications Manager or Director to join our public affairs team, working under our Senior Director of Communications.

This role will support and amplify the organization’s work on issues related to technology, financial, and civic innovation policy at the federal, state, and local level. Successful candidates should have communications experience, impeccable writing skills, an eye for detail, media relations experience, familiarity with graphic and video content creation, and an interest in emerging technology and innovation issues.

## Responsibilities

– **Communications strategy** — Manage communications strategy for the organization’s policy and public affairs campaigns
– **Press statements** — Draft, edit, and review press statements for distribution to media and stakeholders
– **Op-ed writing** — Write and place one op-ed per month on tech and innovation policy with local or national outlets
– **Media preparation** — Prepare team members for interviews, develop talking points, and run media trainings
– **Reporter relations** — Build relationships with key reporters, pitch stories, and drive coverage
– **Online presence** — Help maintain the organization’s online presence
– **News monitoring** — Monitor news coverage and compile daily clips for team members
– **Press lists** — Maintain and update press distribution lists
– **Metrics tracking** — Track and analyze communications and organizational success through quarterly metrics
– **Content creation** — Create and manage online content, including written posts and coordinating graphics and video content

## Requirements

– **Bachelor’s degree**
– **8+ years experience** of post-college work experience
– **Communications or PR experience**
– Outstanding writing, editing, and communication skills
– Fluency with social media platforms and digital tools
– Well-organized and proactive about problem solving
– Bias toward action
– Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines
– Role is located in Washington, DC

## Compensation & Benefits

– **Salary range:** $90,000 – $140,000 (based on experience)
– **401(k):** Retirement program with 4% employer matching
– **Insurance:** Employer‑subsidized medical, dental, and vision
– **Vacation:** 15 days in the first year
– **Holidays:** 8 paid holidays per year plus the week between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day
– **Parental leave:** 12 weeks paid
