Communications Senior Manager – North America

Communications Senior Manager – North America
Organization: Ellen MacArthur Foundation
Location: Manhattan, NY
Date Posted: 09/16/2024

The Nature of Global Challenges

The nature of global challenges demands transformation of the economy rather than incremental change to business-as-usual approaches. Transformation is necessary at an unprecedented scale and pace to deliver national and collective commitments, notably with regard to climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution.

Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the Circular Economy

The Ellen MacArthur Foundation has demonstrated that such a transition is entirely possible through its mobilisation of the circular economy. As a framework for systems solutions and transformation, the circular economy can help to address the 45% of GHG emissions that result from the way goods and food are produced and consumed, and the 90% of biodiversity loss driven by the extraction and processing of natural resources.

Communications Senior Manager Responsibilities

As our Communications Senior Manager, you will work closely with our Lead in North America and our global Communications team to develop strategies and plans that achieve the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s brand building and education goals in North America, as well as overall global brand goals. You will be responsible for managing all North America-based internal and external communication activities and multi-channel campaigns.

In addition, you will support internal communication, ensuring that North America messaging and activity resonates with overall strategy and that key internal stakeholders are engaged appropriately. You will build relationships with key influencers in North America, including media outlets, corporations, nonprofit organizations, agencies, and influential individuals that are instrumental to achieving the Foundation’s strategic communications objectives.

  • Work with the Foundation’s legal team to contract external agencies, freelancers, and other partners to support our communications ambitions. Write briefing documents and conduct calls with external teams to ensure smooth collaborations and high-level delivery.

External Communications Relationship Stewardship

  • Build and manage relationships related to communications activities with contacts critical to achieving the Foundation’s strategic objectives, including senior corporate executives, media executives and journalists, individual and institutional donors, and communications teams for policymakers, government officials, and peers in the circular economy community. Maintain contact databases.
  • Serve as a face of the organization, presenting at public forums, workshops, or to media partners. Prepare speaker briefings for the North America lead and senior leadership participating in North America-based activities.
