## Job Description

## Summary of Responsibilities

The Content Strategist is responsible for one or more core content areas; builds subject matter expertise in order to develop or tailor messaging, content plans and strategies, and drive engagement; continuously improves AAFP content through audits, measurement, optimization, and process improvement.

As a member of the Integrated Marketing Communication team, the Content Strategist:

– **Collaborates with editors**, writers, designers, and marketers to produce and distribute engaging content. Routinely audits content and identifies areas for improvement.
– **Builds schedules**, ensures deliverables are met, measures effectiveness, and shares insights and best practices.
– **Delivers member value** through resources, education, and connection; helps drive organizational revenue by driving member value and thereby member retention.
– **Performs other duties** as assigned.

## Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) in communications, marketing, English, or related area, plus a minimum of four years of related work experience.

### Required Skills

– **Excellent written/verbal communication skills**
– **Strong critical thinking** and problem‑solving skills
– **Experience with editorial plans** and working within content strategy frameworks
– **Basic understanding of web analytics**

### Preferred Skills

Publishing experience in digital channels, including principles of information architecture, componentized content management systems, syndication, SEO best practices, and GEO/AEO best practices.
