Basic Function of the Position:

Develop and execute public relations strategy/plans for CES and virtual and in-person CTA events globally.

Critical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute traditional and digital media strategies, plans and tactics that drive media engagement for CES and other virtual and in-person events.
  • Support CTA’s corporate goals of maintaining high-quality media coverage and attendance at CES and help lead growth in strategic markets and audiences.
  • Oversee media monitoring and reporting for CES and other virtual and in-person events.
  • Manage the CES Spokesperson program and act as an official spokesperson for CTA.
  • Provide executive support for media interviews, press conferences and speaking opportunities.
  • Write and edit messaging, press releases, video scripts and other media materials as needed.
  • Manage agency partners as appropriate.
  • Supervise and oversee professional development of a Sr. Coordinator and Coordinator.
  • Support the Communications Department’s rapid response capabilities including providing strategic counsel, developing messaging, engaging key media and securing and tracking earned media coverage for CTA issues.
  • Seek and embrace technical and professional educational opportunities by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, identifying best practices, etc.
  • Other duties as required by business needs.

Work Experience:

Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in external communications roles.

Education/Training:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English or Journalism concentration preferred or commensurate experience.

Skills/Capabilities/Technical:

  • Strong communications skills able to understand business strategy and technology.
  • Extensive knowledge of media relations.
  • Excellent writer and comfortable public speaker/spokesperson.
  • Strong strategic thinking, leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Strong knowledge of integrated marketing.
  • Must be organized, nimble and have the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.

Additional Information:

  • Manage up to three full-time direct reports and one intern role.
  • This position is based in the DMV area.
