Director – Federal Affairs

Position Overview:

The Director of Federal Affairs will be central to HaloMD’s federal advocacy efforts, serving as the organization’s primary liaison to Congress. This role is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with staff for members of the U.S. House and Senate, advancing HaloMD’s legislative policy priorities, building a strong reputation as an honest and trustworthy source of actionable information, and ensuring the company’s perspective is represented in legislative discussions.

Successful candidates should have a working knowledge and experience with the congressional policymaking process, be able to think strategically in creating an advocacy engagement plan, basic knowledge of the commercial healthcare system, and strong communication skills. Candidates should be solutions-oriented, prioritizing trust and long-term partnerships over short-term results.

Key Responsibilities:

• In coordination with the Chief External Affairs Officer, develop and execute HaloMD’s federal government affairs strategy

• Represent HaloMD in meetings with congressional staff

• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting healthcare policy

• Provide timely analysis and recommendations to senior leadership on policy issues

• Collaborate with internal teams to align advocacy efforts with company and client goals

• Draft policy briefs, leave-behind documents, and other materials to support HaloMD’s positions

• Build coalitions with industry partners, trade associations, and advocacy groups

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or related roles

• Demonstrated experience engaging with congressional staff and federal policymakers

• Strong understanding of healthcare policy and the legislative process.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Proven track record of building bipartisan relationships and advancing policy objectives
