Position Overview

Hidden Level is transforming airspace safety with innovative, scalable drone detection and airspace technology. We provide real-time, actionable data to enhance security across various environments.

We are looking for a Director of Government Relations to join our rapidly growing team in Washington, DC. In this role, you will assist in the development of the engagement strategy with Members of Congress, Committee Staff, Congressional Leadership teams, Caucuses, and other bodies, as well as the executive branch, to increase support for budgetary and policy requests that have direct and material impact on Hidden Level revenue targets. You will also represent the company before a range of audiences including Members of Congress and their staff, Committee Staff, executive branch officials, industry groups, think tanks, and others.

You must have extensive knowledge and experience of the national security-related U.S. federal budget/appropriations and policymaking processes, and an understanding of how these processes impact and support the company’s business development agenda. You should be a self-starter with strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and work well as part of a team. Responsibilities

  • Be a proactive strategic agent on behalf of the company’s interests and help set, form, and shape future agendas, focusing on informing policymakers to best advance the near and long-term interests of the company.
  • Support the creation and execution of specific government relations strategies to build the company’s reputation, enhance strategic positioning in the industry, and increase understanding of the company and its business objectives in Washington, DC.
  • Design, implement, and drive GR strategy across multiple business lines and fiscal years to ensure GR efforts align with corporate strategic and business objectives.
  • Engage on company-wide efforts to enact strategic policy and funding priorities through the congressional and executive branch processes.
  • Work with the Government Relations team and business line leadership to identify business and policy opportunities and advise on legislative strategies to accomplish company-wide and business-line specific goals.
  • Lead coordination with Hidden Level’s communications, legal, corporate development, and other teams to execute strategies supporting business priorities and engagements.
  • Support planning and execution of appropriations and authorization strategies to secure direct revenue capture for multiple business lines.
  • Coordinate and oversee visits by congressional Members and staff to Hidden Level facilities.
  • Draft and manage the company’s congressional engagement process including white papers, PowerPoint presentations, congressional testimony, hearing preparation, and other deliverables.
  • Monitor, analyze, and engage in the annual congressional policymaking process to support the company’s priorities, focusing on appropriations and defense, homeland security, transportation, and critical infrastructure policy.
  • Collaborate internally and externally on priorities, messaging, and outreach to ensure coordination across business development teams, consultants, and senior leadership.

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated success in planning and implementing strategies to promote government relations priorities and influence legislative policy and budget processes.
  • Ability to build coalitions and maintain relationships with key Congressional and executive branch officials, industry, and trade associations.
  • Proven ability to work independently toward both short and long-term goals.
  • Ability to work as part of a decision-making, action-oriented team environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 7+ years of experience in national security, government relations, and/or the federal executive or legislative arena.
  • Extensive defense/national security experience on Capitol Hill, in the Executive Branch, or in a related defense industry role.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. federal appropriations and policymaking processes across executive agencies, the White House, Senate, and House.
  • Experience with defense policy and budget issues, and understanding of the defense and national security sector and stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% or more.
  • Must be available to work on-site in the DC area.
  • Position requires individual lobbyist registration under the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995.
  • Must currently possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

Compensation and Benefits

Hidden Level offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid parental leave, flexible time off, 401(k) with employer contributions, life insurance, disability insurance, and potential stock options.

Salary Range: The anticipated salary range for this position based in Washington, DC is $168,000 to $220,000 annually. Please note that this range is a general guideline only. Hidden Level considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education/training, key skills, and market/business conditions when extending an offer.
