The Climate Action Campaign (CAC) Opportunity

The Climate Action Campaign (CAC) is seeking a dynamic advocate to lead our efforts with Congress and on Capitol Hill. In this role, you will collaborate with the Government Affairs team at CAC, Members of Congress and their staff, and our broader coalition to advance our climate policy objectives and enhance our access and influence across Capitol Hill.

Responsibilities

  • Enactment of Ambitious Policies: Advocate for policies to reduce climate pollution, improve public health, increase clean energy deployment, and promote equitable outcomes for all communities.
  • Defending Climate Progress: Defend recent climate achievements, including key elements of the Inflation Reduction Act and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, by defeating attempts to defund or alter them and by winning Congressional Review Act votes.
  • Engaging in the Appropriations Process: Participate in the appropriations process to secure funding for agencies, offices, and programs that advance climate priorities, while opposing harmful policy riders.
  • Supporting Pro-Climate Nominations: Support the nominations of pro-climate leaders to key administrative positions.
  • Engaging Members of Congress: Drive a compelling narrative celebrating recent progress and advocating for additional climate action. Expand and deepen relationships with Members and staff, fostering collaboration between CAC leadership, staff, coalition partners, and Members.
  • Community Planning: Develop a community plan for our work in 2025.

Who We Are

The Climate Action Campaign (CAC) is a coalition of national environmental, environmental justice, and public health groups. We played a pivotal role in passing the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 and continue to serve as a vital force for federal climate action.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with at least 8-10 years of experience in climate or environmental advocacy, strong familiarity with climate policy, existing relationships on Capitol Hill, and demonstrated coalition leadership skills.

About the Position

This position will lead CAC’s advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill, including developing and implementing advocacy plans, fostering coalition collaboration, and engaging with Members of Congress and their staff. Key responsibilities include devising a coalition advocacy plan, engaging Members on regulatory agendas, and building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.

This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC, with a target salary of $100,000 depending on experience. We offer comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, generous paid time off, and a 401k plan.
