The Opportunity
We are seeking a Director of Public Relations & Communications to join our talented team! Don’t miss this unique opportunity to join our team and be part of the world’s leading luxury hotel company!
We are looking for a Director who will be responsible for the development and execution of an annual strategic and integrated marketing plan, comprised of public relations, social media, and marketing communications activities. The role supports the hotel/resort’s business objectives to drive revenue for the Rooms Division, Food and Beverage outlets, and Spa. The jobholder acts as a strategic communications advisor to management by keeping track of public attitudes, developing key messages, as well as managing issues and crisis communications.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Develop and execute an annual PR strategy in support of the hotel marketing plan, including detailed plans in media relations, paid digital marketing, restaurant and bar marketing, segment strategies, and key PR initiatives.
- Create innovative publicity programs that will increase awareness and positive perception of the hotel, its restaurants and bars, spa, and personnel.
- Maximize opportunities for publicity in all media through careful research and a targeted editorial pitch plan, focused on key feeder markets for both the group and leisure segments. Maintain professional relationships with media to support achieving the goals outlined in the PR plan, including the distribution of targeted media releases, media kits, pitches, and other PR-related material.
- Take a lead role in crisis communications in support of the hotel senior management team.
- Maintain website content and update the website with new promotions to generate additional revenue. Manage the optimization of product pages, ratings & reviews, search results, and digital advertising. Ensure the hotel’s web presence (websites, microsites, tactical landing pages, etc.) aligns with the Hotel’s positioning and business objectives.
- Manage the hotel’s social media and digital efforts.
- Comply with Four Seasons brand standards for marketing communications.
- Ensure that all hotel promotions, advertising, direct mail pieces, and collateral are in keeping with Four Seasons image and reflect the highest level of professionalism in content and presentation.
- Proofread all marketing material, including collateral, direct mail, advertising, printed promotional pieces, guest correspondence, etc.
- Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by the Director of Marketing.
- Play a key role in reputation management; act as a strategic communications advisor to management by keeping track of public attitudes, flagging possible consequences of prospective decisions, developing key messages, and managing issues and crisis communications.
- Use a strategic approach in overseeing the Hotel’s community relations, CSR initiatives, internal communications, and other activities specific to the Hotel and its VIP guests.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of five to seven years of experience in public relations; previous hospitality or food and beverage experience preferred.
- A university degree in journalism or communications or equivalent experience in public relations, marketing, or journalism.
- Strong and effective interpersonal skills.
- Proven relationships with media, community, and business contacts that have delivered demonstrable results, and the personality to maximize these contacts.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), a strong sense of quality, and a creative mindset.
- A self-starter that can multi-task and prioritize.
- Proficiency in leveraging social media networks and related monitoring tools.
- The ability to create newsworthy events, develop story ideas, and follow through with pitch leads.
