Director of Technology & Innovation Policy

This position is responsible for managing American Action Forum’s technology and innovation policy portfolio, including researching and effectively communicating on a broad range of technology and telecom policy issues. Key responsibilities include tracking developments related to data privacy, spectrum auctions, tech-specific competition policy, telecom mergers, media ownership, AI regulation, and emerging technologies. The role requires producing written research on deadline, collaborating with communications and other policy staff, proactively assessing legislative and regulatory priorities, supervising at least one technology policy analyst, and developing and maintaining relationships within the tech policy sector and on Capitol Hill. Candidates should demonstrate strong writing, research, and data analysis skills, a firm grasp of relevant policy issues, a commitment to free market-oriented solutions, and the ability to communicate complex policy matters to diverse audiences. Strong working knowledge of programming languages is a plus. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
