Organizational Summary
The Climate Leadership Council (the Council) is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to promote the most effective, fair, and politically viable climate solutions. Americans for Carbon Dividends (AFCD) is a 501(c)(4) national education and advocacy campaign that promotes the bipartisan Baker-Shultz Carbon Dividends Plan.

Primary Responsibilities
The Executive Team Associate will work directly with the CEO, providing administrative and substantive support with organizational priorities including Board coordination, grant-writing, fundraising support, policy and congressional research, and developing and implementing strategy. This position will also work closely with other members of the executive team, including the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer (EVP/COO), Senior Vice President, Policy and Research (SVP), and the Chief of Staff.
Responsibilities include:
Executive Operations and Support
- Prep the CEO for speaking engagements and events, including presentation development, PowerPoint slides, and talking points.
- Act as a resource to answer questions and address requests from key stakeholders and industry partners.
- Maintain calendars for the CEO, EVP, and SVP; schedule meetings with outside stakeholders and coordinate with the Public Affairs team on event scheduling requests; general organization scheduling and support as requested.
- Develop and distribute agendas for internal meetings that the CEO participates in.
- Maintain/prioritize pending project “to-do” items.
- Support and lead on select stakeholder or coalition engagement.
- Lead the development of materials for the CEO. Draft, review, and ensure the high quality of emails and other communications as requested, including drafting and providing briefing memos, policy summaries, political backgrounders, and general correspondence including thank-you notes.
- Assist with research requests from the CEO and project manage research projects as assigned.
- Serve in an advisory capacity to the CEO.
- Execute special projects as requested by the CEO, acting as a coordinator of the internal team to assign and manage project components.
Fundraising
- Draft grant proposals and reports.
- Work with the CEO and other leadership team members to identify potential corporate and foundation donors, conduct research, and provide related background and briefing documents.
Board Coordination
- Draft, support, and execute the creation of materials for the boards of the Council and AFCD, including presentations and board books.
- Schedule board meetings.
- Draft and finalize board meeting minutes.
Policy, Research, and Government Relations
- Perform discrete policy and legislative research projects.
- Represent the organization in meetings with external stakeholders, including partner companies and congressional offices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of full-time work experience with demonstrated understanding of climate policy, organizational support management, and administrative knowledge.
- Ability to multi-task, meet pressing deadlines, anticipate needs, and adjust in a changing environment.
- Project management skills and a detail-oriented nature.
- Impeccable integrity and honesty, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong verbal and written communications and the ability to present in a group setting.
- High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
- The successful candidate will be highly ambitious, focused on positive outcomes, eager to work collaboratively while remaining resilient in a challenging political arena, and operate with impeccable integrity.
Location
This position is based in DC in a traditional in-office setting, subject to the organization’s telework policy. Currently, the office is operating in a hybrid environment (three days in office, two days remote).
Compensation
Competitive salary range based on experience: $53,000-70,000; full benefits package including medical, dental, 403(b), etc.
