Government Relations Specialist

## Job Summary
The Arizona Technology Council (AZTC) is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Government Relations Specialist to monitor, maintain, and advocate for clean energy legislation and climate‑friendly infrastructure investments at various governmental levels. This role involves advising the CEO, engaging with public officials, managing communications, and supporting AZTC’s mission in promoting clean energy and technology initiatives in Arizona.

## Key Responsibilities

### Legislative Monitoring
Keep abreast of current and proposed legislation and regulations related to clean energy and climate‑friendly infrastructure at the city, county, and state levels.

### Strategic Advising
Provide weekly updates to the CEO to discuss AZTC’s positioning on legislative matters and recommended actions.

### Communication
Draft informational paragraphs about clean energy initiatives for inclusion in the Council’s newsletter.

### Stakeholder Engagement
Contact and advocate to elected and appointed officials across various government levels to support clean energy policies aligning with AZTC’s Public Policy Platform.

### Partnership Development
Build and maintain relationships with non‑profits and businesses in the clean energy sector to foster collaborative projects.

### Grant Monitoring
Identify and highlight state or federal grants and financing programs suitable for AZTC members, including success stories related to federal grant implementations.

### Educational Programs
Initiate and conduct roundtable sessions to educate members and the public about clean energy policy, federal investment opportunities, and relevant legislation.

### Policy Engagement
Participate in monthly calls focused on renewable energy projects and policy updates, and guide AZTC’s involvement in local renewable energy siting efforts.

### Community Outreach
Arrange educational tours and media campaigns showcasing local businesses that have implemented clean energy projects.

### Representation
Serve as AZTC’s representative at all relevant public meetings and state legislature sessions to advocate for clean energy policies and investments.

### Public Policy Committee
Attend meetings twice per month.

### Collaboration
Work closely with AZTC’s contract lobbyists.

## Position Specifications

### Employment Type
Full‑time staff member

### Requirements
Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal), strong computer and phone skills, willingness to travel across the state, and a keen interest in clean and renewable energy.

### Desired Qualities
Direct experience in dealing with elected officials, familiarity with local government offices and agencies, and an understanding of clean energy, sustainability, and infrastructure initiatives.
