AXPC is a national trade association representing 33 leading independent oil and natural gas exploration and production companies in the United States. Last year, AXPC member companies were responsible for over half of all US natural gas and approximately half of all crude oil produced in the US. AXPC companies are among leaders across the world in the cleanest and safest onshore production of oil and natural gas, while supporting millions of Americans in good-paying jobs and investing a wealth of resources in our communities. Purpose:

This position will develop and lead our communications strategy, help shape audience-specific messaging for issue advocacy, manage social media platforms including the organization’s website, support media relations, and assist with executive communications. This position will report to the CEO.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement all aspects of AXPC’s federally-focused communication strategy
  • Plan, initiate, and develop public relations efforts in support of AXPC advocacy efforts and strategic initiatives
  • Build relationships with relevant reporters to promote the AXPC brand and perspectives, and proactively pitch targeted media opportunities
  • Develop thoughtful proactive and reactive talking points, key messages, and other external content consistent with AXPC brand and organizational standards
  • Serve as secondary spokesperson for the organization
  • Lead AXPC’s Communications Committee
  • Manage AXPC’s social media accounts, website, and blog
  • Use analytics and metrics to measure the impact of the organization’s communications efforts, programs, and projects
  • Support internal AXPC communication efforts
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop and support integrated campaigns and messaging materials
  • Maximize earned media opportunities through a variety of media channels
  • Coordinate media outreach, screen media inquiries, assist in developing talking points for SMEs and pertinent staff on AXPC issues
  • Collaborate with all levels of AXPC’s staff and membership, including the Board, committees, and consultants
  • Present on AXPC’s communications to the Board of Directors at three annual board meetings and as-needed
  • Help manage, facilitate, and promote external speaking and media opportunities for CEO

Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and executing communications-focused campaigns and initiatives in support of organizational goals
  • Strong presentation skills and experience briefing senior executives
  • Exceptional writing and proofreading skills
  • Advanced skills maintaining information accuracy, attention to detail, and meeting deadlines
  • Experience managing and interacting effectively with consultants and external organizations
  • Experience working independently and on multiple tasks, maintaining attention to detail
  • Familiarity with energy policy
  • Commitment to contribute to a positive organizational culture
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality control and attention to detail
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience
