About the DCCC

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with electing Democrats to the U.S. House of Representatives. The DCCC recruits Democratic candidates and supports Democratic campaigns – both challengers and Democratic incumbent Members – with a variety of services including field operations, fundraising support, communications assistance, digital strategy, research support, and management consulting. The DCCC is supported by the contributions of individuals and organizations, along with Democratic Members, from throughout the country. We look for talented and hard-working professionals who are committed to electing Democrats and winning the House majority.

Due to the cyclic nature of our organization, all positions are subject to separation at the end of the election cycle.

Position Summary

The Hispanic Press Secretary is responsible for outreach to Spanish-speaking media outlets on behalf of the DCCC and its various campaigns, including pitching positive stories, Republican accountability stories, and going on the record. They will serve as a resource to our targeted campaigns in districts with large Spanish-speaking Latino populations and will help develop earned media outreach plans in those districts. They will also help the Communications Director and Deputy Communications Director in managing communication and collaboration internally with the Engagement Department to ensure that we are lifting up work that is being done to engage Latino, Black, and AAPI communities across the country.

This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.

Responsibilities

Serving as the main point of contact for all communications-related inquiries in Spanish-language press; acting as the spokesperson and media contact for the DCCC with all local and national Spanish-language media

Drafting and presenting press releases, talking points, and statements for the press

Working with Regional Press Secretaries and campaigns to implement aggressive, individualized earned media strategies that target Latino communities across the country

Facilitating earned media efforts between the Communications and Engagement Departments to amplify work being done for this cycle’s engagement programs

Assisting with the DCCC’s disinformation program

Staying in contact with Spanish media professionals, as necessary

Performing other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the Communications team

Requirements

Qualifications

Fluent in both Spanish and English languages, including excellent writing, grammatical, and editing skills

At least one (1) cycle of on-the-record experience required; previous campaign/political experience preferred

Demonstrated commitment to championing the Latino community and engaging them in the democratic process

Ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage shifting deadlines and multiple priority assignments

Ability to conduct interviews in written and multimedia formats, in both English and Spanish

Experience in combating disinformation campaigns in Spanish, a plus

Experience with staffing a principal and media prep preferred
