Salary Range: $116,100 – $191,500 Salary

This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At One Call, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $116,100 – $191,500 Salary

The Legal & Government Affairs Director will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s government relations strategies to advocate for favorable policies, legislation and regulations. The Director will work closely with internal teams to align government relations efforts with business goals and collaborate with external stakeholders, government agencies, and industry associations.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive government relations strategies that align with One Call’s objectives and regulatory environment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with state and federal government officials, regulators, legislators, and industry associations to advocate/lobby for policies that support the company’s interests.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at the local, state, and federal levels, and assess their potential impact on the company.
  • Interpret and provide legal advice and guidance on regulatory developments, including preparation of legal opinions and legal position statements.
  • Provide strategic counsel to internal teams on government relations matters and legal teams, ensuring alignment with company goals and values.
  • Provide support to the legal department and enterprise on an ad hoc basis on such items as contract drafting, litigation management (including setting litigation strategy, reviewing pleadings and motion practice) and general legal advice and counsel.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape public policy positions and messaging, ensuring consistent and effective communication to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the company at government hearings, legal proceedings, industry events, and relevant forums, articulating the company’s positions persuasively and professionally.
  • Prepare written materials such as policy briefs, position statements, and advocacy materials to communicate the company’s stance on key issues.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging issues, and best practices in government relations to drive continuous improvement.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school. Current admission to the bar association of any state.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in political science, public policy, business, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of government relations experience, including education, government advocacy, lobbying or other relevant corporate experience with progressive leadership roles. Progressively challenging experience in a policy and/or advocacy leadership role. Experience in healthcare is preferred.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding of government processes, legislative and regulatory frameworks, and political dynamics.
  • Proven track record of successfully influencing policy outcomes and building effective relationships with government officials.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical abilities, with the capacity to synthesize information and develop actionable plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and lead in a matrixed organizational structure.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

For roles located in office or home settings; this job is primarily sedentary and may involve repetitive motions; the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, speak, and hear. For roles located in the field; this job is primarily active; the employee is regularly mobile and must be able to utilize transportation (such as driving), sit, use hands and fingers, speak, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift objects (up to 10lbs weight; up to 4 ft. height). Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to see things from a close distance and ability to adjust focus. The work environment utilizes fluorescent lighting; noise level is moderate. The emotional demand of the job may cause undue stress from, but not limited to, moderate/heavy workload.
