Primary Responsibilities

Legislative and Regulatory Research

  • Performs research, current awareness, monitoring, and other activities related to state and federal legislative and regulatory processes.

Resource Evaluation

  • Evaluates resources, tools, and technologies.

Subject and Product Specialization

  • Serves as subject and product specialist and liaison to designated legal teams, committees, departments, and/or local offices.

Librarian on Duty

  • Along with all Research Analysts, spends part of each day as “Librarian on Duty” monitoring the workflow ticketing system, conducting reference interviews, and completing or appropriately redirecting reference requests.

Training Development

  • Develops and delivers training for the firm’s Billable Credit for Research and Technology Training program.

Meetings Participation

  • Participates in bi-weekly staff and other department meetings.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • MLS from an accredited program or 5 years of experience in Law Firm library/research positions, preferably focused on legislation and regulation.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Familiarity with state and federal legislative and regulatory processes and information sources.
  • Strong written and oral communications, including the ability to summarize lengthy complex information to help attorneys quickly find the information they need is an essential qualification.
  • Intellectual curiosity, creativity, a strong customer service orientation, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Confidentiality

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of firm and client information.

Preferred Tools

  • Familiarity with Lexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg Government, Bloomberg Law, Fiscal Note, and Quest is preferred.

Fair Chance Act

  • Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for the position in accordance with the California Fair Chance Act.

Pay Range

  • California and New York Pay range for this role, with the final offer amount dependent on skillset and experience: $90,000 – $115,000
