Manager, Diversity Programs Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Signature DEI Program Management:
    • Serves as primary liaison to the Committee on Diversity and Inclusion (CoDI) to evaluate, manage and grow a portfolio of programs and services tailored to meet the specific DEI needs to those in endocrinology; manages committee meetings and conference calls, including developing agendas, preparing, and distributing materials, attending meetings, and drafting minutes and writing reports for submission to the Society’s governance.
    • Manages all-inclusive programs, such as Future Leaders Advancing Research in Endocrinology (FLARE) and Endocrine Excellence in Clinical Endocrinology Leadership (ExCEL). Duties include the application review and selection processes, correspondence with applicants and winners. Once awardees are selected, implement the development of workshops and all in-person networking events and meetings associated with the programs.
    • Works with Principal Investigators (PIs) to secure funding for the innovative programs supported by NIH, such as FLARE. Collaborates with our Development and Strategic Partnerships team to identify and secure funding opportunities to support diversity programs such as ExCEL.
    • Responsible for the development and operation of DEI funded programs and ensures grant activities are in accordance with funders’ policies and criteria.
    • Manages the portfolio of awards and travel grants associated with diversity programs, specifically promotion, application review, correspondence with applicants and winners, award check disbursements, preparation of award certificates, and award announcements.
    • Oversees and monitors updates to all DEI program and award information on the Society Website and within the Society’s database including participation and award codes.
    • Manages and ensures data quality for key stakeholder reporting and leads research activities for DEI initiatives.
  • Innovative Planning and Support:
    • Under the direction of the Director of Diversity & Professional Development Programs apply strategic diversity, equity, and inclusion-leading practice approaches to solve complex cultural challenges, prioritizing, anticipating the needs of collaborators, and implementing with operational excellence.
    • Measures key performance indicators for DEI professional development for underrepresented groups in the broader Endocrine community.
    • Collaborate with other program managers to develop and operationalize a new standardized process to incorporate DEI metrics and reporting in other Society programs such as awards programs, faculty identification, and professional development in alignment with the Society’s DEI business initiatives.
    • Under the direction of the Director of Diversity & Professional Development Programs conceptualizes and develops strategic initiatives and new programs to expand the reach and influence of the Society’s Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) initiatives.
    • Work in partnership with the Director of Diversity & Professional Development Programs to develop new products/services and syndicate insights related to diversity and inclusion efforts.
    • In collaboration with CoDI and other DEI committees or task forces, supports governance with the identification of diverse candidates for committee appointments, Laureate Award nominations, and faculty recommendations for the Annual Meeting scientific program.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Five – seven years of association experience. Previous association experience and/or experience in administration of educational or scientific programs preferred. Strong committee management experiences a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to work with a diverse group of stakeholders (staff, committee members, learners, collaborators, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Work Location

This position is located in Washington, DC, and walking distance to Metro and major bus lines. The Endocrine Society offers a flexible, hybrid work environment. Employees are expected to work from the office at least 2 days per week to foster our collaborative culture and support cross-functional interaction.
