Multimedia Communications Specialist
The Multimedia Communications Specialist is a member of the Communications Department and reports directly to the Director of Communications. This position serves as one of the department’s primary storytellers and content creators, producing compelling written and video content that informs, educates and engages ASBA members.
The primary responsibility of this role is developing high-quality written communications including e-newsletters, feature stories, articles, member communications and marketing copy while also leading videography and video editing efforts that showcase the work of Arizona public schools and the Association.
The Multimedia Communications Specialist also supports ASBA’s digital communications through social media, website content management, graphic design and other multimedia projects. Travel to school districts, conferences and events throughout Arizona is required.
This position requires exceptional organization, creativity, strong writing skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects while consistently meeting deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Primary Responsibilities
1. Writing & Member Communications
Serve as the primary writer for ASBA’s member communications, including enewsletters, email campaigns and organizational announcements.
Serve as the project lead for ASBA’s monthly Communications Toolkit, overseeing content planning, resource development, template creation, production schedules and delivery of communications materials for district subscribers.
Write feature stories, news articles, press releases, web content and marketing copy that support ASBA’s mission and strategic priorities.
Develop engaging written content for the ASBA Journal magazine, newsletters and member publications while coordinating with internal staff and external contributors to meet publication deadlines.
Ensure all written communications maintain a consistent voice, brand standards and editorial quality.
2. Videography & Video Production
Plan, film and edit professional videos that highlight ASBA events, school districts, member success stories and educational initiatives.
Manage aspects of video production, including scripting, filming, editing, lighting, graphics, audio and post-production.
Secondary Responsibilities
1. Creative Content Development
Design graphics, infographics and other visual communication materials.
Support marketing campaigns through digital and print collateral.
Assist with photography, branding and multimedia projects as needed.
Contribute creative ideas that strengthen ASBA’s overall communications strategy.
2. Social Media
Assist with creating, scheduling and publishing content across ASBA’s social media platforms to support member engagement and organizational communications.
Capture photography and video content during events and district visits.
Stay current on social media trends and recommend innovative approaches to audience engagement.
3. Website Management
Assist with updating website content to ensure accuracy, timeliness and consistency with ASBA branding.

Additionally, may be tasked with various other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the team.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or related field preferred.
Demonstrated experience in multimedia.
Comprehensive proficiency across all facets of social media management, encompassing expertise in creating engaging reels, stories and live content, as well as adeptness in shooting and editing photos and videos.
Ability to represent the Arizona School Boards Association and its members in a positive and professional manner.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in graphic design, audio and video recording/editing and webpage design and management.
Experience operating cameras and equipment.
Expertise in using programs such as Final Cut Pro, Premier, Adobe Illustrator, Light Room, Photoshop, WordPress or equivalent.
Expertise in social media management and paid digital campaigns, adeptly leveraging strategic insights to optimize online presence and drive impactful engagement.
Comfort with public speaking and small group training.
A collaborative approach to working toward common goals with team members.
A passion for public education.
