America Forward’s Policy Manager will work closely with senior policy staff on the Coalition’s federal collective advocacy priorities outlined above, amplifying the voice of the America Forward Coalition in the national policy conversation. This includes federal collective advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill and America Forward’s work to build the advocacy capacity of the Coalition members.
Specific to the 2020 election cycle, the Manager will also help execute America Forward’s campaign engagement efforts, coordinating with America Forward’s leadership to conduct outreach to campaign staff, share policy proposals, and develop opportunities to engage with candidate and member organizations. This includes planning town hall/community forums to introduce the policy priorities of the America Forward Coalition to presidential campaigns and other policymakers and thought leaders; these events will be virtual for the foreseeable future under current circumstances, but will eventually take place in person once it is safe to do so.
An independent self-starter, the Policy Manager will have a passion for advancing policy change, engaging with partners, policymakers and campaigns, and will thrive in a fast-paced work environment. S/he/they will be highly skilled at communicating with internal and external audiences and presenting in front of large groups (both in-person and online) to inspire others to advance the policy priorities of the America Forward Coalition as contained in our 2020 Policy Playbook.
Based in Washington, DC, the Policy Manager will report directly to the Executive Director of America Forward, work closely with the entire America Forward team and external policy consultants, and play a vital role in ensuring America Forward achieves its ambitious advocacy goals in 2020 and beyond.
