About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
This position will be onsite and is located in our Washington DC office.
Reporting to the Head of DC Office, with close coordination to the Vice President-External Affairs, the Political Action Committee (PAC) Advisor will lead the strategic direction, operations, and growth of the PAC for a major electric utility enterprise wide. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of PAC fundraising, compliance, political disbursements, and stakeholder engagement. The Advisor will also manage FEC filings, represent the organization in political and fundraising forums as well as provide advocacy support for the External Federal Affairs legislative and administrative functions.
Responsibilities include:
PAC Strategy & Management
- Develop and execute annual and long-term strategic plans for PAC growth and engagement.
- Oversee day-to-day PAC operations, including budgeting, financial tracking, and compliance with FEC regulations.
- Lead PAC solicitation campaigns and donor engagement strategies.
- Engage with FEPAC board of directors to review and discuss PAC strategy and budgetary items.
Political Engagement & Advocacy
- Collaborate with External and Government Affairs teams to align PAC activities with policy priorities.
- Represent the PAC at political events, fundraisers, and industry coalitions.
- Monitor and analyze political trends and their impact on the utility sector.
Communications & Reporting
- Develop PAC-related communications, including newsletters, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Attributes:
- Congressional, Administrative, state legislative or political campaign experience.
- Familiarity with grassroots advocacy tools and platforms.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with multiple stakeholders.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in public affairs, communications, public policy, public administration, journalism, business, marketing, customer service, advertising, public relations, or related field.
- 10 years related work experience in Political Campaigns, Utilities, External Affairs, Corporate Communications, Customer Service, Marketing, Media Relations, Journalism, or related field.
- Highly organized and effective at managing multiple workstreams simultaneously and demonstrated ability to take on high-levels of responsibility.
- A strategic thinker and day-to-day executor who can juggle several issues at once; ability to effectively consider and solve both short and long-term problems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; capable of working with and influencing stakeholders at all levels, all while exhibiting a knack for always finding the right tone.
- Strategic problem solver; challenges the status quo and looks for creative solutions.
- Meticulous and vigilant, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects / assignments simultaneously is critical.
- Fluency in other languages is a plus.
- Ability to travel across the footprint, including overnight travel.
