Project Director – Technology Policy

Freedman Consulting, LLC, a mission-driven consulting firm, seeks a Project Director to support the firm’s technology policy practice area and related client efforts. The Project Director will conduct and direct client projects that include strategic advising and planning, policy development and analysis, coalition support, and client management.

The Project Director will lead a portfolio of projects featuring a wide variety of technology policy and related issues, potentially including:

  • Artificial intelligence
  • Platform regulation
  • Competition
  • Disinformation
  • The intersection of technology and disability
  • Spyware
  • Emerging technology policy issues

The Project Director will join a growing team of almost 50 staff members working at the intersection of policy, philanthropy, and politics.

  • Public-private partnerships

  • Technology policy

Primary Responsibilities

The Project Director will be expected to advance technology policy-focused work streams and develop deliverables with minimal oversight.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and driving project strategies and work plans for large-scale client projects
  • Managing and supervising teams of associate-level staff and directing overall work planning and day-to-day tasks
  • Providing strategic guidance and thought leadership to clients, Vice Presidents, and teams
  • Directing client interactions, including facilitating meetings, calls, and presentations
  • Conceptualizing, drafting, and editing a variety of client-facing material, such as reports, presentation decks, memos, and briefs
  • Contributing to business planning and development, particularly within the tech policy portfolio
  • Supporting the professional development of firm staff through leadership and mentorship opportunities

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate

  • 7-10 years of experience in policy, legislative, advocacy, consulting, communications, or research
  • Expertise in technology policy topics preferred
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Demonstrated management capabilities
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to distill complex information into clear, actionable insights

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary range: $115,000 to $130,000
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including:

    • Discretionary annual bonus based on performance

The starting salary is determined based on knowledge, skills, experience, internal equity considerations, and budget availability.
