Position Overview
The International Fertilizer Association (IFA), the only global fertilizer association, is seeking a full-time Public Affairs Analyst to join its dynamic and multicultural team. The Public Affairs Analyst will deliver policy analysis (UN and beyond), strategic insights, and concepts to help advance IFA’s mission across the fertilizer, food systems, and energy sectors. The role involves tracking global policy and regulatory trends, drafting concept notes and briefing materials, and engaging with international partners to strengthen IFA’s presence in the UN and other multilateral processes. This role combines traditional policy expertise with advanced application of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to deliver efficient, more impactful outputs.
The Analyst will also contribute to IFA’s public affairs and thought leadership efforts, enhancing the association’s visibility and influence in global sustainability and food security debates. This position calls for a policy professional with strong analytical, communications, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Duty Station
This hybrid position will be based in either London or Paris. UK nationality or work permit (for London) or EU nationality or work permit (for Paris) is required. Some international travel is required.
Reporting Line
The Analyst reports to the Director of Public Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Intelligence, Multilateral Engagement & Content Development
Monitor and analyze global policy and regulatory developments at the UN (and beyond), assessing implications for members.
Distill complex policy developments into clear, actionable insights, briefs, and summary reports for IFA members and stakeholders.
Manage UN submissions and other related administrative tasks; prepare submission calendars and timelines for UN and related intergovernmental policy processes.
Support the preparation of speeches, presentations, and thought leadership content.
Leverage AI as a core production engine to accelerate drafting and reviews without compromising accuracy, nuance, or editorial quality.
Stakeholder and Member Engagement
Support IFA’s relations and partnership building with networks of policymakers, international organizations, industry leaders, and think tanks.
Help coordinate industry papers, statements, and white or background papers.
Support IFA’s relations with its members (e.g., through its Strategic Advisory Teams, Committees, Working Groups and Task Forces).
Leadership and Visibility
Support high-level convenings by helping plan executive roundtables and leadership events, including speaker coordination, event materials, and ensuring consistency and readiness.
Amplify outcomes through social media and follow-up communications, drafting initial versions of post-event readouts, quotes, op-eds, social posts, and website updates.
This role also requires direct communication with IFA member companies and stakeholders worldwide and the capacity to drive selected projects autonomously. Strong, structured, well-articulated writing in English, strong work ethics, and multi-tasking skills are a must.
Qualifications and Experience
Advanced degree in Public Policy, International Relations, Economics, Agriculture, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in international policy analysis, ideally within agriculture, fertilizers, or food systems.
Demonstrated expertise in applying AI tools to research, writing, and policy workflows.
Experience in producing high-quality written outputs (policy briefs, concept notes, analytical papers).
Native or equivalent fluency in English (additional languages an asset).
Previous knowledge of selected UN agencies and their mode of operation would be an asset.
