About This Role:

Role Overview: Universal Consulting Services (UCS), a subsidiary of Tria Federal (Tria), is seeking a talented Public Affairs Writer. The person in this role will support the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) Public Affairs Office.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops content for various types of media, including advertisements, articles, blogs, magazines, and video scripts. Writers must establish their credibility with editors and readers through clean prose, strong research, and the use of sources and citations. Writers and authors select the material they want to use and then convey the information to readers. With help from editors, they may revise or rewrite sections, searching for the clearest language and phrasing. A number of writers produce material that is published only online, such as for digital news organizations or blogs.
  • Choose subjects that interest readers.
  • Write scripts, biographies, and other formats.
  • Conduct research to get factual information and authentic detail.
  • Write copy for newspapers, magazines, broadcasts, and the Internet.
  • Present drafts to editors and clients for feedback.
  • Work with editors and clients to shape material for publishing.
  • Edits articles, writing must be in accordance with AP style.

The “Need-to-Have” Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with AP format/style.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivated, and a demonstrated ability to multi-task and work independently.

Professional Certifications: N/A
Education: B.S. in Associated fields
Clearance: Must be a US Citizen with an Active Secret security clearance or ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
Years of Professional Experience: Minimum 2-4 years of experience

The projected compensation range for this position is $62,000 to $65,000 (annually USD). The estimated compensation represents the standard salary range for a position of this kind, reflecting just one factor of the comprehensive compensation structure and benefits package offered to Tria employees.
