About this Role:

The Public Relations Manager will play a key role in shaping and amplifying Myriad Genetics’ reputation as a leader in precision medicine and genetic testing. This PR manager will lead a proactive and progressive public relations program focused on advancing Myriad Genetics’ reputation among key external stakeholders and influencers, including media, industry analysts, and influencers, in addition to increasing awareness, enhancing credibility and strengthening engagement across media, healthcare and industry audiences.

The public relations leader will oversee corporate media relations, issues/crisis communications, product/business PR. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator and storyteller with experience managing media relations, driving PR campaigns, and coordinating agency partners. This role will lead content planning and brand voice for external corporate platforms and partner with the business including senior leaders and business unit teams. The position will have shared responsibilities for community relations activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute public relations program and strategies including media relations, crisis communications/issues management, stakeholder relations, and community relations, that strengthen Myriad’s reputation and visibility.
  • Drive strong two-way communications with external audiences, print, broadcast, trade, and media.
  • Develop and convey compelling messages and position newsworthy development that differentiate Myriad.
  • Create, revise, and implement communications material that delivers key messages to target audiences that are consistent with branding, messaging, and digital strategies.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate proactive public relations campaigns, event marketing, and related initiatives leveraging industry best practices.
  • Collaborate across Marketing and Corporate Communications to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key media and industry outlets; manage inquiries and coverage opportunities.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, media statements, bylines, blog content, and executive communications.
  • Oversee PR agencies and external partners to ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Support executives with media preparation, thought leadership, and speaking opportunities.
  • Track and report media coverage, sentiment, and impact.
  • Support crisis communications and rapid response as needed.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field. Agency, in-house, and global experience preferred.
  • 4 – 6+ years of public relations, communications and/or media experience. Biotech and/or Healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills and experience with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling messages.
  • Experience managing PR agencies, budgets, and performance metrics.
  • Proven success in working cooperatively and strategically in a team-oriented matrixed environment with the ability to influence and interact with all levels of leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadline-driven projects simultaneously, aligning enterprise and business communications strategies.
  • Strong work ethic and the desire to make an impact.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed organization with multiple priorities.

Lifting Requirements – light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements – stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, and observing. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.

Minimum Salary: 100,600.00
Midpoint Salary: 120,700.00
