AAA Mid States is seeking a dynamic Public Relations and Public Affairs Manager to lead external communications, enhance brand reputation, develop media strategies, and support organizational goals through public advocacy that align with AAA’s mission.

As the Public Affairs and Public Relations Manager at AAA Mid States, you will be responsible for promoting AAA’s mission of safety, security, and service. This role will coordinate media relations, support public policy positions, and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local and state government officials, community partners, and media representatives, reinforcing AAA’s leadership on issues such as traffic safety, mobility, transportation infrastructure, and consumer advocacy.

Successful Candidate Will Be Responsible For
Public Relations
Manage media inquiries and coordinate interviews and appearances when applicable.

Develop and execute PR campaigns to promote AAA services, safety initiatives, and community programs.

Write press releases, media kits, talking points, and op-eds.

Public Affairs
Track legislation and regulatory developments that affect AAA members and business operations (e.g., transportation, automotive, insurance).

Build and maintain relationships with local and state government officials and agencies.

Represent AAA Mid States in community events.

Coordinate public education campaigns on issues like traffic safety, teen driving, senior mobility, and emergency preparedness.

Partner with schools, nonprofits, and public safety agencies on community outreach.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Political Science or a related field.

2+ years of experience in public relations and/or public affairs, preferably in transportation, consumer services, or government.

Strong media relations and strategic writing skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail.

Confident communicator with comfort across professional settings like elected officials, executives, and community partners.
