Prime Air is seeking a Regulatory Affairs Specialist responsible for leading and executing projects and initiatives related to regulatory framework and standards development for Amazon’s drone program in the United States and globally.

### Key Job Responsibilities

– Develop and coordinate Prime Air’s global strategy and engagements with internal and external stakeholders, e.g., aviation ministries, industry associations, and government and industry working groups, in order to advance technical regulatory framework and standards-setting work in drones.
– Engage with the FAA and other aviation regulators to enable Prime Air to scale drone delivery to Amazon customers.
– Partner with internal stakeholders, like Legal, Public Policy, and Public Relations, as well as engineering and operational teams, to develop and drive Prime Air’s positioning on regulatory topics related to drones and their operations.
– Serve as Amazon Prime Air’s representative before government stakeholders, industry associations, and regulatory bodies globally in relevant rulemaking and standard-setting efforts.
– Brief internal teams on all relevant global regulatory guidance for design, certification, and operation of drones as well as on regulatory developments.

### Export Control License

This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.

### Basic Qualifications

– Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited course of study, in political science, law, aerospace-related disciplines, or equivalent industry experience in drones and/or traditional aviation.
– Industry experience working directly with regulatory and senior government decision makers like the FAA or other national aviation authorities, the EU Commission, and/or international aviation organizations and standard-setting bodies.
– Familiarity with the aviation rulemaking and standards-setting processes in the United States and/or in Europe.
– Competence in drafting regulatory filings and in driving and representing industry positions before government regulators.
– Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently with limited guidance.
– Excellent interpersonal, communication (e.g., verbal, written, and listening), and presentation skills.

### Preferred Qualifications

– Direct experience leading comprehensive strategies for navigating rulemaking and/or standards-setting processes for an airline, an aerospace manufacturer, an aviation-related government body, or in an aviation/aerospace trade group.
– Background in scaling aviation or drone operations.
– Background in aviation approval processes, drone regulations (FAA, EASA, UK CAA, etc.), and compliance requirements.
– Understanding of dangerous goods regulations.
– Experience representing industry and/or government perspectives in government/industry working groups.
