About the Role:

LS Power is seeking a Regulatory Policy Manager/Director to serve a key role in interfacing with ERCOT as well as the Texas Public Utility Commission and state legislators for the company’s generation assets. This position will focus on the ERCOT region. The Regulatory Policy Manager/Director is a high visibility position within and external to the organization. The Regulatory Policy Manager/Director will interface with various other departments in the organization including Asset Management, Business Development, Transmission Planning, Operations, and more. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and growing organization.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Develops and advocates for policies and regulations that promote the interests of LS Power in ERCOT working with key stakeholders, including the ERCOT staff, ERCOT stakeholders, and State regulators and legislators.
  • Leads the regulatory effort in ERCOT, including being the primary representative to the Texas Competitive Power Association (TCPA).
  • Informs management and operations of regulatory developments to include periodic and ad hoc written and oral reporting. Assesses business threats and opportunities. Prepares summaries of activity and reports for management review. Seeks management approval for recommended strategies.
  • Helps LS Regulatory Team develop policy and advocacy for issues that span national interests and multiple regions.
  • Coordinates with regulatory and compliance functions to monitor ongoing regulatory and legal developments impacting LS Power. Supports initiatives to ensure ongoing compliance with market rules and regulations.
  • Provides guidance and direct assistance for colleagues engaged in state and federal advocacy.
  • Provides intelligence on competitors, trends, and other issues that impact LS Power.
  • Provides quantitative analysis on rules and regulations to assist in financial decision making with respect to buying and selling assets, and for-profit optimization.

Qualifications

  • Have strong decision-making skills.
  • Possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex issues in preparing briefs and other documents.

Ideally, you also have:

  • A college degree (engineering, science/technical, or management field preferred but not required).
  • Minimum of 3 years of related professional experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Industry knowledge and experience in ERCOT, specifically the law-making process, the rule-making process, and ERCOT protocols.
