We are seeking a Senior Manager of Government Affairs to help enhance AUVSI’s growing advocacy portfolio. In this role, you will work closely with Members of Congress, Congressional Committees, and federal agencies to promote and track legislation, policies, and funding that support the integration of uncrewed systems. As the primary lobbyist for AUVSI’s Advocacy Committee, you will represent the organization on Capitol Hill and within the Executive Branch, ensuring our priorities are championed at the highest levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary liaison between AUVSI members and Capitol Hill, providing real-time advocacy intelligence and guidance on key policy areas affecting the uncrewed systems sector.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Members of Congress, Congressional Committees, and their staff.
  • Track and advocate for legislation, regulations, policies, and funding that align with AUVSI’s priorities.
  • Represent AUVSI on Capitol Hill and within the Executive Branch, ensuring our voice is heard on critical issues.
  • Develop, write, and review briefs, letters, and other materials to support advocacy efforts and member communications.
  • Respond effectively to Congressional inquiries on pending legislation and regulatory matters.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of advocacy strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a registered lobbyist with experience directly engaging with elected officials and lobbying for key priorities.
  • Capitol Hill experience is required, ideally as a staffer on a transportation or security-focused committee or as a Legislative Assistant in a personal office of a Member of Congress.
  • A deep understanding of federal government processes and strong relationships with lawmakers and their staff is essential.
  • Must be DC/DMV based and able to regularly commute to Capitol Hill.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience, with a proven track record in government affairs or a similar field.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
