## Key Responsibilities
– **Federal relations strategy** — Lead the development and execution of federal government relations strategies and tactics to successfully implement legislative and policy goals pertaining to Viatris’ policy and business interests.
– **Advocacy before Congress** — Advocate on behalf of Viatris on issues pertaining to Viatris’ policy and business interests before Congress, relevant federal agencies, and the Administration.
– **Policymaker relationship management** — Manage day‑to‑day Viatris relationships with policymakers and participate in relevant staff‑level coalition work groups to advocate for Viatris’ desired objectives.
– **Congressional and Administration engagement** — Develop, maintain, and expand relationships and communications with Congressional staff and Administration officials to ensure Viatris is known as a thought and policy leader on issues impacting the pharmaceutical industry.
– **Cross‑functional coordination** — Work with the Head of U.S. Government Relations to coordinate assignments and collaborate with external consultants, trade associations, coalitions, and other partners to execute business strategic plans.
– **Legislative analysis** — Analyze key legislative issues in light of the company’s strategic goals and focus on those that advance or could inhibit the company’s competitive business interests.
– **Policy document development** — Develop documents for internal and external use, including draft legislative language, policy briefs, advocacy materials, fact sheets, and issue messages, in coordination with Viatris’ communications team.
– **Policy awareness building** — Build understanding of policy parameters and political factors influencing Viatris’ government relations objectives and ensure ongoing awareness among business leaders.
– **Healthcare ecosystem expertise** — Possess a robust understanding of U.S. healthcare delivery and its associated political ecosystem.
– **Internal collaboration** — Partner closely with State Government Relations, the Office of Global Policy, and other internal functions on legislative and policy activities to enhance Viatris’ presence with policymakers.

## Minimum Qualifications
– **Education requirements** — Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree (business, legal, policy) preferred.
– **Experience level** — Minimum seven years of experience in federal government affairs or public/health policy; ten or more strongly preferred. Experience should show increasing responsibility, ideally in the healthcare sector.
– **Industry background** — Industry‑related, trade association, lobbying, federal agency, and Capitol Hill experience are desirable.
– **Legislative process expertise** — Strong knowledge of federal legislative and regulatory processes, including Medicare, Medicaid, VA, and DOD programs.
– **Established policymaker relationships** — Demonstrated relationships with policymakers, Congressional committees, key staff, and federal agencies.
– **Communication skills** — Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to synthesize complex issues and articulate actions persuasively.
– **Collaboration skills** — Strong interpersonal, consensus‑building, and team‑oriented skills.
– **Language proficiency** — Proficiency in speaking, comprehending, reading, and writing English is required.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
**Salary range:** $151,000.00 – $314,000.00 USD.
