Senior Director, Marketing Strategy

BASIC FUNCTION

The Senior Director of Marketing Strategy plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of ACEP by developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies to enhance brand visibility, foster customer engagement, and drive revenue.


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development: Develops and implements innovative marketing strategies that align with ACEP’s business objectives and brand identity. Oversees execution and continuous improvement through repeatable planning processes and campaign templates.
  • Team Leadership: Leads a cross-divisional strategic marketing and sales team. Identify all ACEP products and offerings, their target audiences, and clear value propositions for each. Coordinate outreach strategies by various teams through personal or automated email, phone/RVM, SMS, advertising, and other channels to ensure cohesive brand messaging and a unified customer experience.
  • Event Presence: Coordinates ACEP’s presence at industry events, aligning messaging, prospect lists, and offerings to audience needs.
  • Goal Setting: Works cross-functionally to establish KPIs for each vertical and identify time-bound goals and tactics to achieve them.
  • Mentorship: Leads, mentors, and grows a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration. Hold the team accountable for achieving agreed-upon marketing plans and reporting on progress toward KPIs.
  • Market Research: Conducts in-depth market research, competitive analysis, focus groups, and prospecting to uncover trends, identify opportunities, and refine value propositions for ACEP offerings.
  • Budget Management: Manages the marketing budget with a focus on ROI, optimizing investments across channels and advertising strategies (outbound paid media and inbound sales opportunities).
  • Multi-Channel Campaigns: Oversees the creation and delivery of multi-channel marketing campaigns, including digital, social, email, content marketing, and traditional media.
  • Strategic Communication: Develops and delivers data-informed campaigns that promote ACEP priorities and counter misinformation. Collaborates with Content and PR to improve public perception, using targeted messaging to meet strategic goals. Balances internal promotion requests across membership, education, events, and member-driven content with effective channel and segment strategies.
  • Data Analysis: Analyzes campaign performance and user behavior using data from CRM, purchasing patterns, web traffic, and other sources. Identifies data gaps and promotes evidence-based decision-making.
  • Technology Integration: Recommends and integrates modern marketing tools and technologies to improve team efficiency and campaign effectiveness.
  • Strategic Advisory: Serves as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, staff, and chapters on emerging marketing trends and communication best practices.
  • Content Review: Reviews and approves advertising content and assists with website updates as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Members and other customers, vendors, association executives, chapter leaders, and executives


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of eight years’ related experience in direct marketing and communications, with membership or association marketing highly preferred.
  • Extensive use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and web applications.
  • Extensive experience analyzing and optimizing data and metrics in Microsoft Dynamics CRM and/or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Supervision experience.

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in marketing or related discipline.
  • CAE certification.
  • Strong initiative and results orientation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strengths in problem-solving and issue resolution.
  • Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven work environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
