The American College of Preventive Medicine is seeking a full-time Senior Manager, Communications &
Advocacy.

The Senior Manager executes ACPM’s communications and advocacy strategies in the media, on Capitol
Hill and within the Administration to advance the issues of interest to the preventive medicine
community. The Senior Manager works cross-functionally with other departments in the organization to
build strong relationships with ACPM members as advocates, spokespeople, and issue-area experts. This
role also represents the College through coalitions, partner engagement, and high-profile meetings with
policymakers while ensuring a bipartisan position.

Responsibilities include:
Advocacy
• Develop and execute ACPM’s advocacy/legislative agenda as aligned with the strategic plan and
identify opportunities to advance agenda with ACPM Advocacy Committee.
• Serve as staff liaison to the ACPM Advocacy Committee, supporting related activity and initiatives
(e.g., advocacy training, workshops at PM Conference) and engaging committee members.
• Establish and maintain bipartisan liaison with administration officials, members of Congress, key
congressional staff, physician groups, and other relevant organizations.
• Manage and execute grassroots advocacy campaigns among ACPM members and constituents,
maximizing the use of the online ACPM Action Center and other resources.
• Monitor, evaluate, and advocate for legislation that has the potential to positively or negatively
impact the preventive medicine profession.
• Analyzes policy, legislative proposals and coalition opportunities and recommend and track ACPM
“sign-on” to letters, reports, and positions.
• Lead ACPM’s activities in the AMA House of Delegates in collaboration with leadership team.
• Coordinates activities surrounding the AMA House of Delegates Section Council on Preventive
Medicine and Public Health.
• Educate government officials/staff and media about preventive medicine and build support for
ACPM’s policy agenda, ensuring ACPM policies and positions, as well as its advocacy activities, are
being appropriately promoted to policymakers, media, members and other stakeholders.

Communications
• Draft and disseminate media releases, statements, talking points, letters of support, fact sheets,
reports and testimony.
• Manage ACPM’s editorial-related activities for the American Journal of Preventive Medicine and lead
content development for designated pages.
• Maintain oversight and action plan for the ACPM ambassador/spokesperson program, ensuring
exchange of member information, profile development, media access/training, etc.
• Provide communications support by writing content (editorial, digital and multi-media) for ACPM
newsletters, website and social media; even more so to communicate legislative developments and
ACPM positions and actions to ACPM’s members and stakeholders.
• Serves as project manager for the development and launch of the ACPM annual report.
• Leads social media strategy and execution for the College, working closely with staff to identify
priorities and engagement opportunities.
• Work closely with staff and vendors to enhance and maintain ACPM.org.
• Contribute to the overall success of ACPM by performing all other essential duties and
responsibilities as assigned.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of applicable experience. A bachelor’s degree is required. The
position requires up to 10% travel.

Starting salary is $78,000 – $82,000. The College offers a health and welfare benefits package plus
