The Delta Air Lines Government Affairs team is seeking an innovative and well-connected federal professional to work and develop in a dynamic and exciting environment. The Senior Manager, Government Affairs, will serve as a leader for Delta’s federal advocacy interests in Washington, D.C. This individual will be responsible for advancing the company’s federal affairs objectives by engaging directly with Congress, federal agencies, and relevant third-party stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of relevant experience working on Capitol Hill, in the Executive Branch, or in a government relations capacity. This role requires strong political acumen, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of the federal legislative process.
The Senior Manager will help develop and execute lobbying strategies, monitor policy developments, and provide strategic counsel to senior leaders. They will also draft high-quality policy materials and ensure that lobbying activity is compliant with all relevant laws and regulations. A successful candidate will be a self-starter, thrive in a collaborative team environment, and consistently go above and beyond. Key areas of responsibility include:
- Serve as a registered lobbyist, advocating on behalf of Delta before Members of Congress, congressional staff, and Executive Branch officials.
- Build and maintain relationships with federal policymakers and their staff, with a focus on key congressional committees and relevant agencies.
- Lead and support coalition-building efforts with third-party stakeholders, industry groups, and trade associations to advance Delta’s policy priorities.
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments; advise internal stakeholders on potential impacts and recommended strategies.
- Develop and implement targeted lobbying strategies in collaboration with Delta’s business units and Government Affairs team.
- Engage across Delta’s various business units to leverage their expertise to provide credible and compelling responses to congressional inquiries.
- Develop memos and/or background resources to support and complement issue assignments and advocacy in partnership with internal stakeholders, as appropriate.
- Participate in external policy briefings, hearings, and events and provide summaries and recommendations to the team.

What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in the federal legislative or regulatory environment, including Capitol Hill or a relevant government agency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to clearly and persuasively convey complex policy issues.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain trusted relationships with federal policymakers.
- Ability to work cross-functionally within Delta and represent the company effectively with external stakeholders.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Must embrace diverse people, thinking, and styles.
- Willingness to go above and beyond to support the team’s goals.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience working on aviation, transportation, or consumer protection policy is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience and ties with the Democratic Caucus.
- Advanced degree (J.D., M.P.P., M.A., or M.B.A.) desirable.
- Prior experience in a corporate government affairs or trade association role.
