Summary:
The AOPA social media marketer will be responsible for developing and administering social media content that is aimed at engaging users and creating an interactive relationship between our audience and AOPA. The overall goal is to continually highlight the enthusiasm and passion aviation entails with AOPA’s community and grow membership through engagement.
Responsibilities:
Develop and manage AOPA’s social media and day-to-day community engagement.
• Record, edit, and design relevant content through all active social media platforms.
• Engage members and target audiences to create open dialog and grow social media activity pertaining to AOPA and general aviation overall.
• Monitor, listen, and respond to social conversations in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with Marketing to plan and execute social media promotions.
• Collaborate with AOPA Safety to plan and execute social media promotions.
• Proactively share issues, observations, opportunities, and insights based on social media monitoring to the organization.
• Ensure all organization wide social media outlets are adhering to AOPA Social Media guidelines.
• Integrate with AOPA’s media channels to build social media promotions that provide a continuous experience with both online and offline media.
• Use social media tools to schedule and keep content organized and relevant.
• Maintain a working knowledge of principles of SEO including keyword research. Highly knowledgeable in the principles of “Search and Social.”
• Maintain in-depth knowledge and understanding of Social Media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, X, Yelp, Google Business, YouTube, Instagram, etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios for AOPA and its partners.
• Develop a strategy and implement a proactive process for capturing social content. Spearhead an interactive calendar throughout the departments, with regular communication on upcoming efforts.
• Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy.
• Provide monthly reports of social media campaigns and postings across all platforms.
• Identify and report notable threats and opportunities in user generated content surrounding AOPA social channels and broader aviation trends online.
• Assist with the development and implementation for social media strategies and campaigns based on analytics and research.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, media, or a related field preferred.
• Experience within the general aviation industry strongly preferred. Must have a desire to fly or already be a student pilot/licensed pilot.
• A minimum of three years of related experience: account management, social media, or strategy experience in the digital space. Strong grasp of major social media platforms and how to apply them to achieve brand goals and grow a vibrant social community.
• Experience with social media analysis tools required: Sprout, Wrike, Meta Business Suite Preferred: Google Analytics, Salesforce, Hootsuite, etc.
• A strong communicator, both written and verbal who understands the interaction between strategy, content, and audience engagement.
• Experience and skills with videography concepts within the social media arena.
