CLYDE: Vice President Position

We are seeking a talented and dynamic Vice President to join our growing team.
Qualifications
The Vice President should have 10-15 years of public affairs experience, whether at a public affairs agency, an in-house public affairs role, in government, or in campaigns. Candidates should be established as a voice for an industry, specialty, or principal. The VP will shape and support the execution of strategies for a portfolio of clients. This person will empower team members to achieve outcomes for clients by leading entire account teams and serving as the primary point of contact for clients. They will develop strong personal and professional relationships with clients, advise on the design and implementation of creative strategies for key audiences (from consumers to opinion elites), and play an active role in shaping our team and firm. They will also lead business development efforts and proactively bring in new client opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Play the strategic lead role on approximately five client teams, building relationships with clients, serving as a go-to resource, and providing proactive strategic communications advice and direction to achieve client goals.
- Work closely with client and internal teams to develop sophisticated, innovative, and creative communications strategies and be confident in shifting strategies to address emerging issues.
- Proactively own a variety of projects and deliverables that achieve client goals while ensuring all client deadlines are met and the quality of work is high.
- Confidently stand up new client accounts, including developing the resources and tools needed to execute against the scope of work (SOW) and achieve client goals.
- Oversee financial aspects of client work, including SOW development, budget tracking, monthly reporting, billing, client profitability, and team member utilization.
- Lead a $1 million+ dollar portfolio of CLYDE clients.
- Lead business development efforts and regularly bring in client opportunities.
- Maintain personal and professional networks that support visibility and business development efforts.
- Shape, sell, and execute strategies for clients.
- Identify areas for organic growth within the client base.
- Manage and mentor two or more direct reports.
- Show repeated proficiency in effectively managing teams and deliverables to scope and on budget.
- Empower team members to achieve outcomes for clients.
- Advise on the design and implementation of creative strategies for key audiences (from consumers to opinion elites).
- Contribute to business unit planning and broader agency-wide initiatives as required.
- Play a critical role in shaping the firm and supporting CLYDE initiatives.

- Contribute to CLYDE visibility efforts and seek external opportunities for personal visibility (e.g., contributed articles, speaking engagements).
- Exhibit expertise in time and project management.
- Commit to upholding and defending the highest levels of ethical conduct.
- Adhere to firm policies and procedures.
- Ensure direct reports are adhering to firm policies and procedures.
- Support hiring efforts.
Qualifications/Required Skills
- 10-15 years of experience, with at least five years in management.
- Outstanding command of communications strategy, particularly within today’s fractured media landscape, and an understanding of creating and executing omnichannel campaigns.
- Experience independently running or serving as a key team member for small and medium clients.
- Experience as an on-the-record spokesperson (for a candidate, organization, or elected official).
- Proven track record of driving organic growth with established clients.
- Established media relationships with political beat reporters.
- Experience leading staff development, talent cultivation, mentorship, and career tracking.
- Excellent writing and grammar skills, including the ability to write concisely, clearly, and logically; exceptionally strong writing and AP editing skills.
- Ability to edit the work of junior team members and explain edits in a way that improves their skills.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail; excellent multitasker.
- Comfortable with basic social media aggregators, including but not limited to Sprout Social, Meltwater, and Hootsuite.
- Comfortable with digital platforms like Wikipedia, Reddit, Discord, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, and social media platforms.
- Shows curiosity, interest, and comfort in learning and adopting new tech platforms.
- Interested in using practical applications of AI.
- Experience pitching media.
- Finds opportunities to deliver constructive feedback to senior team members.
- Seeks and is receptive to constructive feedback.
- Clear experience leading high-value clients, motivating internal teams, and helping develop strong workplace cultures.
- Professional and mature demeanor in working with peers and team members to solve problems, address issues, and diffuse internal challenges.
Salary
The salary range for this position is $111,000 – $164,200.
