### Vice President of Political Affairs

**Reports to:** Chief Advocacy Officer

**Job Summary:**
Manages all aspects of the development, integration, and execution of the organization’s grasstops, grassroots, and fundraising strategy. Leads the engagement of an active volunteer base and motivates and develops Finseca members into top-tier citizen advocates who can effectively build influential relationships with Federal and State policymakers and positively impact issue campaigns and organizational priorities.

### Duties & Responsibilities

– Manage and develop a high-performing team, providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring to enhance individual and collective performance.
– Develop and successfully execute the organization’s overall political strategy.
– Grow and strengthen relationships between the organization’s volunteer Ambassadors and key legislators.
– Advance the organization’s political fundraising efforts for endorsed candidates and through its political action committee (PAC).
– Expand the quantity and quality of Finseca’s political training programs, DC fly-ins, in-district meetings, and Annual Meeting Hill visits.
– Grow Finseca’s political relationships with Congressional Staff on Capitol Hill.
– Drive alignment and leadership within the broader life insurance industry on grassroots strategy.
– Leverage grassroots and grasstops influence on Finseca and industry issue campaigns.
– Manage and develop the organization’s growing Political Affairs team and associated budgets.
– Provide regular written reports and oral presentations on Finseca Political Affairs activities to both internal and external audiences.
– Curate relationship management and engagement through Quorum.
– Execute other responsibilities and special projects as directed.

### Qualifications & Required Competencies and Skills

– 7-10 years of experience in political campaigns, on Capitol Hill, and/or political consulting on the Federal level.
– Track record of developing people, motivating staff and volunteers, and instituting strong processes and systems.
– Understanding of, and background working with, associations required.
– Experience successfully managing and integrating field operations, issue-based advocacy efforts, and fundraising programs is critical.
– A strong record of delivering measurable grassroots/grasstops successes.
– Demonstrated knowledge of the Federal legislative processes, with a strong understanding of political dynamics and context.
– Strong written and verbal communications ability, including the ability to present complex issues in a concise and understandable manner to a broad array of audiences.
– Proven analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving ability.
– Excellent interpersonal skills and team-oriented, collaborative approach.
– Highly organized, detail-oriented, with the ability to multi-task effectively.
– Inspiring and dynamic leader with a creative, results-oriented mindset, and record of professional achievement.
