Health & Wellbeing

  • Medical, dental and vision coverage, effective the first of the month after you start.
  • Life insurance and short- and long-term disability, fully paid by the Council.
  • Flexible spending accounts for health care and dependent care, funded pre-tax.

Time Off

  • 40 days of flexible PTO a year, available to new hires from day one.
  • 7 days of sick leave, separate from your PTO.
  • Up to 14 paid holidays, plus the office closes between Christmas and New Year’s.
  • 16 weeks of parental leave for birth, adoption or foster placement, 12 weeks at full pay.
  • Paid civic time: bereavement, jury duty, military service and up to 4 days a year of community service.

Money & Retirement

  • A 401(k) with up to 10% from the Council: a 3% year-round contribution, fully vested, plus a discretionary match of up to 7% at year’s end.
  • Published salary bands and an annual pay review benchmarked against the market.
  • A monthly commuter stipend for the DC office, plus the pre-tax Metro SmartBenefit.

  • Tuition reimbursement up to $5,000 a year for graduate work and $2,500 for undergraduate study.
