Introducing Caitlin Demchuk

Welcome to our new PIN Chair Caitlin Demchuk!  Caitlin is the federal government relations manager, PAC & grassroots at Walgreens, and we are honored to have her as our new Chair.  With her guidance, we are looking forward to continuing to hone and expand the network to ensure it remains a valuable asset to our members.

A longstanding Council member, Caitlin has shared her expertise as a speaker, served on PAC Conference Advisory Committees and has participated in networking events.  She continues to innovate for the advocacy and political involvement programs she leads.  We are excited to leverage her creativity and expertise to evolve the PIN Network.

Letter from the Chair

[vc_single_image image=”129432″]

Hi there! I am thrilled to be your new PIN Chair. A huge kudos and thanks to Julie Vieburg for her leadership over the last two years as Chair. Julie, I look forward to continuing to work with you. When I was reflecting on what to write for this first column, I kept coming back to what fills my cup professionally – connection and community.

[vc_toggle title=”Read More”]PACs have faced multiple challenges in recent years – unprecedented scrutiny from the media, donor-centric issues, such as growing retiree populations and disenfranchised younger employees, and struggles over executing meaningful programming in virtual or hybrid settings. Depending on the size of your team, sometimes it can feel like you’re alone facing these challenges. I guarantee you that there is a fellow PAC peer who is going through the same challenges or has weathered the same storm and can offer sage wisdom (or at the very least, commiserate with you over a coffee!).

While we may work in different industries and champion different causes, we find common ground in coming together to solve our communal problems. The PIN network is full of PAC superstars who are pushing the envelope with new and creative ideas and improving upon existing best practices. I am a veteran attendee of the Council’s programming, and I still find myself learning something new at each workshop I attend. I was personally energized by many of the presentations at the 2023 PAC Conference and intrigued by the new ways peers are using technology and gamification to improve their PAC success.

I would encourage you all to take a moment to reflect upon your programs and consider trying a new idea or approach you may have heard at the PAC Conference or from a colleague. There is comfort in producing signature annual events and deploying the same campaigns and solicitation strategies, but it can often breed complacency. Be brave – throw a little “spaghetti” at the wall (but don’t forget to track your metrics!) and see if it resonates.  In these interesting times, I’m personally grateful for peers who share their successes and their failures and for the opportunities to connect. As we dive headfirst into this new election cycle, I encourage you to reach out and connect – we are a much stronger community when we collaborate instead of compete.[/vc_toggle]
