What to Think About (and Hitting “Go”)
Before you launch or join a coalition to advance your government relations goals, it’s necessary to think through the pros and cons. In this session we will:
- Discuss what to consider when weighing whether to assemble a coalition
- Walk through how to identify if the coalition you’re looking for already exists and if it’s the right fit for your needs
- Explain how to find coalition partners and strategies for bringing them into the fold
- Cover how to craft a coalition statement and what pieces should be in place before launching

Challenges, Solutions and How to Know What’s Next
When there are a lot of cooks in the coalition kitchen, things can get complicated. Our expert will take us through how to navigate common challenges, highlighting different solutions and ways to determine if your coalition should be evergreen or if it’s time to let it sunset. In this session we will:
- Talk about best practices for governing a coalition, including what to do if a member “goes rogue”
- Discuss methods for consistent messaging
- Share strategies for recognizing when a coalition may no longer be necessary or conversely, the ways to keep a coalition operable long-term
- Discuss how to dismantle a coalition without burning bridges
