Responsibilities

  1. Monitor State and Federal Legislation
    • Track legislation impacting CSDA.
    • Develop legislation summaries.
    • Review and analyze proposed legislation.
    • Recommend advocacy strategy.
    • Prepare policy briefs.
  2. Maintain Database of Representatives
    • Keep a current working database of key representatives.
  3. Prepare Written Materials
    • Create research reports, fact sheets, letters, and other materials as needed.
  4. Assist in Advocacy Campaigns
    • Help develop, implement, and evaluate grassroots advocacy campaigns.
  5. Liaise with LCSA Directors
    • Interface with LCSA Directors and county staff.
    • Act as staff for CSDA committees.
    • Take meeting minutes.
  6. Interface with Legislative Staff
    • Engage with county, state, and municipal legislative staff.
    • Address legislation, budget priorities, and policy issues affecting CSDA.
  7. Support Executive Director
    • Assist in preparation for meetings with government officials.
    • Develop testimony, briefing materials, and presentations.
    • Take meeting minutes.
  8. Coordinate Events
    • Organize policy symposium and legislative day.
    • Prepare materials and schedule meetings with officials.
  9. Attend Meetings
    • Represent CSDA at coalition and association meetings.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships.
  10. Manage Social Media and Website
    • Update social media and website.
    • Collaborate with website lead for advocacy activities.
  11. Perform Assigned Duties
    • Fulfill other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in legislative, advocacy, or public policy work.
  • Experience in developing materials for legislators or senior policymakers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong public relations skills.
  • Working understanding of federal and state legislative processes.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to gather, compile, and synthesize data.
  • Capability to develop persuasive communication deliverables.
  • Basic understanding of media and public relations processes.
  • Good organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively.
  • Strong conflict management skills.
  • Professional judgment and confidentiality.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk.
  • Working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.

Pay: $60,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
