Job Purpose:

This position is central to the strategic operations of Endeavors, serving as a key player between the organization’s core values and its public representation. With a focus on Community Outreach, Advocacy, State and Federal Legislative Affairs, the role demands a sophisticated understanding of policy, a profound ability to communicate with varied stakeholders, and a dynamic approach to shaping the narrative in alignment with the organization’s objectives. Reporting directly to the Chief Communication and Public Affairs Officer, this role is pivotal in ensuring that data-driven insights and strategies inform all public affairs initiatives.

Position Requirements

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the development and execution of comprehensive public affairs strategies that amplify the organization’s voice and influence at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Oversee the creation of strategic communication plans, ensuring they align with the organization’s mission and effectively convey its stance on key issues.
  • Lead advocacy efforts at state, federal, and local levels, fostering strong relationships with government entities and community groups, and ensuring that organizational messaging is strategic, coherent, and impactful.
  • Utilize data analysis and reporting skills to inform and shape public affairs strategies, ensuring that every initiative is backed by solid research and a thorough understanding of the public landscape.
  • Lead the organization’s crisis communication efforts, developing robust response strategies to safeguard the company’s reputation during critical times.
  • Provide expert guidance on managing sensitive issues, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of information to the public, media, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative developments, assessing their potential impact on the organization and strategizing appropriate responses.
  • Engage in advocacy efforts, representing the organization’s interests in policy discussions and legislative hearings, and influencing policy decisions in favor of the company.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, faith-based and community organizations, enhancing the organization’s influence and reach.
  • Organize and participate in stakeholder meetings, public hearings, and community events, effectively representing the organization and its interests.
  • Conduct extensive research, interpret data, and present insights in a manner that resonates with stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Public Affairs Department, ensuring that strategies are well-aligned with the organizational goals and are effectively communicated to the top-level leadership.
  • Maintain a robust reporting framework, ensuring timely and accurate communication of public affairs initiatives and their impact to the CCO, CEO, and other key stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of experience in public affairs, crisis communication, or a related field.
    • Profound knowledge of public affairs, community outreach, and government relations, with a demonstrated ability to engage effectively with communities, stakeholders, and government entities.
    • Demonstrated success in leading public affairs departments, with a strong track record of developing and implementing effective strategies that advance organizational objectives.
    • Proven ability to develop and execute effective response strategies under pressure.
    • Deep understanding of the legislative process, with proven ability to analyze policies, engage in advocacy efforts, and influence legislative outcomes.
    • Established relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry representatives, and community leaders, facilitating effective advocacy and strategic partnerships.
  • Attendance: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer’s sole discretion.
  • Licenses: Driver’s License with clear record.
  • Vehicle: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.
  • Other: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates.
  • Location: Based in or around the San Antonio, Washington DC or Austin metropolitan area, with a preference for candidates who have a strong understanding of the state and Federal public and governmental landscape.

Exceptions to these criteria must be approved by the department head.
