About the Role & Team
We are looking for a Senior Specialist to join our Government Relations (GR) team supporting Walt Disney World External Affairs! In this role, you will assist a Senior Manager and the rest of the team with managing the resort’s political and policy strategies and initiatives at the local government level. The GR team serves as Walt Disney World Resort’s liaisons to local, state, federal, and international government officials, as well as many industry groups. Additionally, you will demonstrate success by leading multiple projects, creating well-crafted communication, thinking strategically, researching and analyzing complex topics, and possessing an advanced understanding of the current GR landscape in Central Florida. Last but not least, you will bring the ability to form relationships both internally and externally, as well as manage a wide-ranging event management portfolio.
Overall, this Senior Specialist will improve positive company reputation with key partners by driving creative storytelling, will inform business and public affairs leaders of impact-driving successes by developing well-defined metrics and reporting, and will collaboratively assist the Government Relations team with exceeding key business objectives.

This is an approximately 6-month long Project Hire position with no guarantee of permanent placement.
What You Will Do
- Expectation to manage multiple projects simultaneously and independently work through obstacles, including event management for both large and small events on Walt Disney World property
- Assist with managing external stakeholder relationships, particularly among government and industry staff, at the direction of the Senior Manager, to help achieve strategic reputational management goals
- Represent Walt Disney World Resort externally at community, industry, and government events at the request of the Senior Manager or Government Relations leadership
- Lead development of summary briefs and timely reports with key internal stakeholders about the political landscape of Central Florida; conduct research and provide insights into relevant policy and issue portfolios
- Prepare presentations, agendas, and meeting notes and track next steps as required by the Senior Manager and Government Relations leadership. Coordinate with multiple departments to collaborate on relevant projects
- Provide in-depth research summaries and trend analysis as needed for public affairs leadership and other lines of business
- Effectively manage schedule, produce timely correspondence and fulfill other administrative duties as assigned by leadership. Assist with data entry on key customer relationship management platforms
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- Excellent written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for service to others
- Strategic understanding of business objectives and outcomes associated with GR
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and partnering/networking skills
- Creativity to find new solutions and improve reporting, storytelling, and other aspects of GR
- Ability to work independently but also collaborate as an effective team member
- High level of corporate integrity with well-adapted organizational skills in all aspects of job performance with strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Relations, or another relevant major
- Experience with local, state, or federal government, especially in the capacity of an aide or staff
- Experience as a cast member, or solid understanding of Walt Disney World property

High school diploma or equivalency
