Join our dynamic team as Vice President of Legislative Affairs where you’ll play a pivotal role in advocating for the interests of our members within the trucking industry. In this position, you’ll be responsible for effectively communicating policy concerns and priorities to Members of Congress and other key stakeholders. You will work closely with our policy office and public affairs team to strategize and articulate a clear message on legislative issues impacting the trucking industry. Additionally, you will supervise the grassroots manager and program, ensuring our advocacy efforts are coordinated and impactful.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with Members of Congress and their staff, as well as federal agencies relevant to the trucking industry.
  • Keep our members informed on legislative issues through various communication channels.
  • Monitor legislative activities and advocate ATA policy to lawmakers and relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare and support ATA members and staff for meetings and hearings with Members of Congress, providing updates on legislative activity and future outlook.
  • Assist in drafting congressional testimony, correspondence, and position statements, and represent ATA at hearings and meetings.
  • Participate in coalition and stakeholder meetings, and support the ATA Call on Washington Program.
  • Serve as liaison to state trucking associations and coordinate grassroots advocacy efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including work on Capitol Hill, in federal agencies, or the private sector, with a strong understanding of the federal legislative process.
  • Proven experience working under a relevant congressional or senate committee is preferred.
  • Solid political insight and the ability to analyze and disseminate information rapidly.
  • Strong communication and writing skills are essential.
