Team Description

Our Legal, Policy, Trust & Privacy teams help keep users and their stuff safe, protect Dropbox, counsel Dropboxers on challenging problems, and are always synced with the Dropbox teams they work with. We deal with novel issues every day while standing up for users and helping the company and product grow.

Role Description

As Dropbox’s Head of Government Affairs for U.S. Federal and Latin America, you will have lead responsibility for advancing our interests with legislators and regulators in the United States at the federal level and in key markets in Latin America. You will represent Dropbox in a myriad of settings and will build advocacy coalitions with our industry partners and civil society. The strength of your relationships with policymakers and your unparalleled political judgment will enable you to effectively promote Dropbox’s policy interests. To top it all off, you will gain experience managing crises and rapid change as Dropbox continues to grow. This role will report to our Head of Global Public Policy and Government Affairs and will be based in Washington, DC, with travel to our San Francisco, CA headquarters and other locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • In coordination with the Head of Global Public Policy and Government Affairs, develop a sophisticated and holistic advocacy plan for Dropbox’s policy positions at the U.S. federal level and in other key markets in Latin America
  • Advocate on behalf of Dropbox in executive, regulatory, and legislative settings and partner with industry leaders, trade associations, civil society organizations, think tanks, and other external constituents to build support for our positions
  • Create and execute compelling communication strategies around strategic policy priorities and partner with Dropbox’s communications team in media and public relations efforts
  • Continue to evolve our political compliance plan and ensure that Dropbox meets the highest ethical and legal standards regarding all advocacy and political activity
  • Oversee the strategy and operation of the Dropbox Political Action Committee
  • Manage Dropbox’s consultants to ensure that they are meeting our high standards and effectively advocating our positions
  • Lead a U.S. Federal and Latin America Government Affairs team that exemplifies Dropbox values

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience in government affairs settings; prior experience in government affairs with a technology company, trade association, or consultancy preferred
  • Experience working with U.S. legislative, executive, and regulatory government officials, industry partners, and civil society organizations; prior experience working with government officials in other key markets in the region a plus
  • Skilled at advocating complex policy positions before a wide variety of audiences, persuasively and diplomatically
  • Adept at building relationships at the individual level and coalitions at the organization level. Close relationships with U.S. Congressional leadership and/or key Congressional committees strongly preferred
  • Passion for and knowledge of technology policy with experience sweating the details of complicated and nuanced issues from a policy, business, and relationship perspective
  • Guided by a personal integrity that reflects Dropbox’s core values and commitment to our users’ trust
  • Experience managing large scale projects, team management, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technology policy expertise a significant advantage
  • Both corporate and government experience would be a bonus
  • Relationships in, or experience working with, other key countries in the region would be a plus

Total Rewards

US Zone 1 $250,800—$339,300 USD

US Zone 2 $225,700—$305,300 USD

US Zone 3 $200,600—$271,400 USD

The range(s) listed above is the expected annual salary/OTE for this role, subject to change.

Dropbox takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including job and level they are hired into, location/metropolitan area, skillset, and peer compensation. We target most new hire offers between the minimum up to the middle of the range.

Salary/OTE is just one component of Dropbox’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

Dropbox uses the zip code of an employee’s remote work location to determine which metropolitan pay range we use. Current US Zone locations are as follows:

  • US Zone 1: San Francisco metro, New York City metro, or Seattle metro
  • US Zone 2: Austin (TX) metro, Chicago metro, California (outside SF metro), Colorado, Connecticut (outside NYC metro), Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York (outside NYC metro), Oregon, Pennsylvania (outside NYC or DC metro), Washington DC metro, and West Virginia (DC metro)
  • US Zone 3: All other US locations

Dropbox is a Virtual First company and is open to hiring candidates in all authorized locations. However, for this role, the locations posted are preferred.
