AstraZeneca is leading a revolution in oncology to redefine cancer care. We have a bold ambition to one day eliminate cancer as a cause of death. We are looking for an Associate Director of Brand Communications to join us as a core member of the US Oncology Corporate Affairs team while collaborating with other teams across AstraZeneca.

This role will lead US communications strategies through strategic problem solving, developing project plans and implementing communications in support of numerous projects for AstraZeneca’s marketed brands in Gynecologic/Genitourinary (G2) Cancers. With a focus on GYN/GU, you will develop and deliver effective communications programs that elevate AZ Oncology’s reputation as a leader in the US.

This will include leading brand-specific news flow achievements, data delivery at key congresses, internal communications, among other things. It is a fast-paced environment, with the opportunity to coordinate with multiple functions and/or regions and partner with internal clients and leaders.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborates with AZ Brand Communication Leads to ensure integration and alignment with strategic direction, corporate narrative, and internal and external corporate affairs campaign and editorial planning processes.
  • Partner closely across the enterprise (including Global Product Communications, US Media Relations, Regulatory, Compliance, Marketing and Medical Affairs) to ensure a coordinated and compliant approach to communications activity.
  • Ensures communications are continuous, consistent and distributed through appropriate channels, working with all Corporate Affairs partners and third-party agencies as needed.
  • Support an integrated approach to achievements, news flow and activity planning – including support of multiple Phase III trial readouts – to maximise opportunities and prepare against issues.
  • Develop an impactful media relations strategy and narratives to bring to life our science-led pipeline and life-changing medicines within the portfolio.
  • Provide communications and issues management support to brand/indication leaders, and the wider Franchise Leadership team, including media and message training, as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, marketing or related field
  • 5-7 plus years experience
  • Significant experience of leading communications management in a similar environment / for global brands/disease areas.
  • Experience in media relations, digital, social media, employee and leader communications, event planning and more.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in Oncology and/brand communications is strongly preferred.
  • Background in writing science-based content
  • Proven capability to influence and counsel senior leaders and teams across functions and geographical boundaries.
  • Team worker with high level of personal accountability
