### Position Summary
**VP IP & Regulatory Affairs** is a primary legal resource for the organization with ultimate responsibility for assigned legal functions. The VP IP & Regulatory Affairs is responsible for leading corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives. This position is directly involved in complex business transactions and negotiating critical contracts.
The **Vice President, Public Affairs and Sustainability** will serve in a newly created leadership role reporting to the Senior Vice President and General Counsel, as the Company’s strategic leader in public affairs and sustainability matters on an enterprise-wide basis. The role will serve as a key member of AdvanSix’s leadership team, responsible for developing and driving the next chapter of a comprehensive public affairs program, including government relations, and sustainability. This person will drive close collaboration with internal teams, external agencies and stakeholders, as well as elected officials and government bodies to advance our commercial and environmental, social and governance (ESG) priorities as well as enhancing AdvanSix’s role and prominence as a responsible corporate citizen in the communities in which it operates.
### Responsibilities
– Oversee the development and execution of the next chapter for AdvanSix’s public affairs and sustainability strategy, including oversight of initiatives and partnerships to support the organization’s commitment to serving as a responsible corporate citizen in the communities in which it operates.
– Understand current and future challenges within the industry and educating and prioritizing these issues with internal teams and external stakeholders.
– Leverage knowledge and experience in the subject matter to translate fundamentals into AdvanSix’s point of view for emerging issues that will impact the sustainability of the enterprise going forward.
– Manage across enterprise and organizational lines to build a comprehensive reporting process, coordinate strategy, garner consensus, and ensure alignment of disclosure, messaging and advocacy with a view towards influencing public policy and building support for AdvanSix’s key priorities.
– Identify and work with external stakeholders (NGOs, governments, charities, etc.) to pursue and promote AdvanSix’s ESG commitments.
– Support issues management and crisis communications and preparedness by providing advice and counsel on corporate and brand reputation as related to the full spectrum of corporate social responsibility and ESG issues.
– Partner with cross-functional internal teams (e.g. Communications, HR, Legal) of risk and compliance managers to ensure policies and best practices are in place to minimize risk to the public.
– Drive company and leadership participation in events to demonstrate the company’s commitment to social responsibility.
### Basic Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in business, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
– Proven experience in a leadership role driving public affairs, government relations, and sustainability initiatives.
– Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to align goals with commercial strategies.
– 15+ years of progressive responsibility/experience in public affairs, government relations, sustainability, and/or related fields
